Re: Bearing drag accounted for by the Concept2 PM
... but not go all-out from day one allows sprockets etc. to settle in without damage. And some machines just see a lot of abuse and neglect. No oil for decades makes bearings and chains stiff, and thus make you spend a lot of energy that isn't measured. An additional one is levelling: in my ...

Re: Noisy rower at full extension of chain.
This might be a stupid question, but have you oiled the chain, especially when it's fully extended? Or am I misunderstanding your reference to the 'front'? Yes and NO you are not misunderstanding the reference. Its either something in the fan, ...

Re: Diagnosing high current draw/battery drain on PM2 Rev 2.3
definitely fix the pm2. (and inspect and oil the chain on the model c, maybe even clean the flywheel area). Then strongly consider putting the pm2 on the trophy shelf and getting a Raspberry Pi and loading https://github.com/laberning/openrowingmonitor ...

... not exactly sure about these, but rower clutch bearing problem is often solved by rinsing with mineral spirit, drying, and lubricating with motor oil or 3-in-one. Otherwise replace the part. If you contact C2 they will sell you one. https://cms.concept2.com/sites/default/files/pdf/us/skierg/skierg2_master_schematic.pdf

... lot of effort as you can probably imagine. The longevity of the erg is amazing. All I've done is occasionally (not enough in truth) clean the fan, oil the chain and replace the hangar bolt (it sheared on one side) and she's still going strong six and a bit years later. She probably could do with ...

Re: Chain oil
BikeERG uses a belt not a chain. You can find a schematic on the site. https://www.concept2.co.uk/files/pdf/us/bikeerg/schematics/DETAIL-X.svg Does the noise sound like it is coming for the crank or the flywheel or somewhere in between. The BikeERG actually has two belts: one from the crank to an id...

Re: Chain oil
I read the manual at https://www.concept2.com/support/bikeer ... schematics and it doesn't mention anything about oiling the chain.
I'd suggest you contact Concept2 and ask them what their policy is and how you do it if it's necessary maintenance.

Re: Chain veers to the left on recovery

Chain veers to the left on recovery
Hi I oil my rowerg chain regularly. I've had my erg for about 3 years now. But recently, the chain veers to the left on recovery; I notice this a lot more on low stroke rates 18-20. Do I need to adjust the bungees? I doubt the ...

... is probably not an issue. The occasional slipping could be the clutch or a skipping chain, both of which could be fixed with a cleaning and some oil. A new chain, sprocket, shock cord, shock cord pulleys and seat rollers would cover most of the wearing parts for a pretty reasonable price. Functionally ...

Re: Found concept2 on the fb market, need help in assesing
... It is probably worth a try to clean and lubricate the clutch bearing. Rinse it well with mineral spirits, let it dry, and lubricate with motor oil (nothing thicker). Ambitious DIY-ers can replace the clutch bearing, but it is press fit so you need weapons of mass destruction, which you can ...

... expensive and you get to choose which bearings you use, but is not simple. More edit, if you want to play, OILING the bearings with 20w / 3inone oil might not fixa bad bearing, but it should change the sound if the bearings are the issue. This video shows how, and you need to do this anyway to ...

Re: New v old parts
Now would be a great time to get in the habit of oiling the chain every month or so. 3-in-ONE oil or other 20w oil. Worn chain and sprocket would be from lubrication. Since they didn't also hit the shock cord they thought they were fixing something. ...
