Are C2 ergs designed to be split into two everyday?
Are C2 ergs designed to be split into two everyday?
Moving into a new house and in time would like to put an erg in a shed (all set up at that point)....until then I may have to erg outside on a patio which annoyingly means storing it in two, in a cupboard, when not in use. Are they designed to be dismantled and reassembled most days or is it really only for transportation from time to time. Last thing I want to do is spend loads on an erg and then prematurely wear it. Or am I worrying about nothing?

Maybe it's simpler to stand it on end with a cover of some sort.

No problem, inside in the winter I split it up every time. Nothing really wears out.Gammmmo wrote:Moving into a new house and in time would like to put an erg in a shed (all set up at that point)....until then I may have to erg outside on a patio which annoyingly means storing it in two, in a cupboard, when not in use. You can take it apart as often as you wish with minimal wear to the locking surfaces. Many ergs get stood up on their fronts fully assembled when not in use- which will not harm the machine but should be done with caution as they're not very stable and can get knocked over pretty easily...C2JonW

Cheers all. Did Concept redesign the splitting mechanism going from Model C to D/E? I had a model C about 10 years ago that I don't have now and vaguely remember a couple of hex bolts - did Concept manage to simplify this system?

The frame lock was redesigned for the model D2.Gammmmo wrote:Cheers all. Did Concept redesign the splitting mechanism going from Model C to D/E? I had a model C about 10 years ago that I don't have now and vaguely remember a couple of hex bolts - did Concept manage to simplify this system?

the earlier model Ds are different to the later ones too aren't they? the earlier ones have some sort of strap involved whereas the newer (2007is onwards?) just clip in and the plastic flap locks down.
Rogue fitness have some wall hangers for the C2 so instead of just standing it up on end, you then turn it around and lift it up so the back feet hang from the wall.
Not sure if this could cause any problems for the erg other than the risk of dropping it when you lift it up there
...you could probably buy some much cheaper hooks from the hardwear store that would do the same thing too.
