Good News! The water is back on! You never know during a house project how things are going to go. I am so glad I can take a shower before bed. The new dishwasher is very quiet by comparison to the ancient one that was there previously.

The really good news is that the erg is upstairs and not in the basement. I had sunshine when I rowed earlier today and now I am rowing in front of the BIG TV and watching a PD James movie. My husband is concerned that he might not get the erg back down into the solitary confinement of the basement! Especially since his wife learned how easy it is to move and set up! :D

Susan

Sounds like a successful home improvement project!

LOL about rowing in the sunshine. I can't wait until the weather cooperates so that I can open the garage door when I row.

Holy cow! Or should I say Duck?

I just found out that Wood Duck is chasing my tail feathers! :o Could this be the long, lost incentive that I have been looking for???

I'm going to do my best to join in this challenge. I'm already behind, because I just did my first 5K last night. That doesn't give me much wiggle room, er, I mean waddle room! Tuesdays and Thursdays are going to be tough. I have a class in the AM, a one hour commute to work, a full 8 hours of that, and then I'm finally back home at 9:00PM. It can be done though. Focus, focus!

I'm baaaack!
The Buffle

I kinda/sorta took a break from rowing, just to work some other muscles, but I'm back to the rower now. I'm glad the March Madness is here, because it will help me get re-motivated to go at it. I missed rowing March 2, but I've managed to get the rest of the days, and I did over 10k today.

We'll see how things go this month though. One of my bestest friends just found out she has kidney cancer. :( Totally unexpected. It was discovered while looking for something else (which they didn't find, so it was a good thing they did the test!). She's an RN, too, and we're both going to her appts to the nephrologist, oncologist, and surgeon to make heads and tails out of stuff. Except kidneys aren't uteruses, so I have to dig my books out and study up. She'll probably have surgery to remove her kidney this week.

So, rowing will be good for working off the stressors, hey?

--Jen in WI

I'm not too far behind you, got my 5K in by 6:30. Today we start our "Biggest Loser" competition at work, so off I go!
Spring is coming, I saw a robin this morning and heard lots of birds that I hadn't heard in a while out here in Western Pennsylvania. That's motivation in itself!

It snowed in central Indiana yesterday. Started at 10 am and continuted until 4 pm. We actually accumulated and inch! Saw a robin after the snow stopped looking for food! It was 32F (0C)

Picture of my husband John, my daughter Danae, and a seasonal guest.

Part of a picture of my backyard.

Cool pics!

I feel like i'm pulling my weight in the challenge so far. Still not sure I'll be able to do the 25 5k's, but so far I've only missed 2 days, which is less than I thought I'd be at right now. Not bad while working two jobs.

Posted a PB today, and I'm feeling good. I need to kick my butt a bit on the cereal eating goal, but the rest of the erging, stretching, and lifting stuff is coming along......

That sounds like a good stratagy, I may need to do that as well.
Margeret, I will be looking for tips on how you manage your move. We will be moving sometime this spring. !

Pam

The small increments helped me row a few days when there was no way to do it otherwise. It also helped that I did not let myself on the computer, even to check e-mail, til I finished 5k. If there was enough time to check the computer, there was a few minutes for rowing. It felt good dusting off my rowing log.

Pam, good luck on your move. I started packing boxes 2 months ahead of our move, things we wouldn't miss too much like books, decorations, and extra household supplies. This month I'm packing everything except a set of dishes, cooking gear, toilettries, some clothing, sleeping bags & such which will go in our car with us. This is our 4th move in 8 years so I've had plenty of practice.

Margaret

Margeret, thanks for the advice. I guess I need to get serious about packing. I am hopeful that we may be finished with the house as early as the beginning of April...that doesn't leave much time. I just had a work gig (which didn't sound like too much fun) fall through, so thankfully I will have the last two weeks of March free to get serious about putting my current house into little bitty boxes! It will be alot easier for me to continue the March madness without the extra work, too! Keep me posted on how your move is going.

Pam

It is DAY 10!

How is everybody doing? I did not want to row this week. Too much to do, I was tired, its too much work, etc. BUT I knew others were out there stroking away so I did it and was glad I did when I was done. I find rowing on-line with others to be helpful. Another Duck and I email back and forth about whether or not we did our row that day.

Keep up the hard work. It is doing our bodies and our brains good!!

Susan

By the way, if anyone is interested in on-line rowing, you could join in. "All" you need is
1) a computer by your erg that can connect to the internet. (I use a laptop, someone else recycled an old computer.)
2) PM3 or PM2+
3) RowPro (www.digitalrowing.com) You can download an evaluation copy to see if you like it. If you haven't used RowPro in awhile, it came out with a new view where you can watch others in their boats stroking along. It makes me look quite buff.

If anyone ever wants to try it out in a low key fasion, send me an email and we can try to set up something.
I use RowPro for companionable rows. They don't have to be speedy or all out races.

Hmmmm....don't check the computer unitl I've rowed 5 km - great idea! Only I've missed this morning, but now I'll get off the computer and go row. I find weekends are harder to row for me, since my family is about, but if I'd only rowed when I woke up early, I'd be done by now....thnaks for the idea, Margaret. I'm off to row my 5 k!
Kit

Hey Widgeon! Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad to be back to rowing, which is a good thing, because I was feeling a tad burned out on it after January.

And Susan, glad your water's back on. I think I'd rather have the electricity go off than to lose my water. Nothing worse than a Duck without water, right? :-)

I've managed to row most days, but I've missed 3 days so far. However, I rowed over 10k on two days, so does that mean I'm only down by one day??? I'm starting to feel like my energy levels are back. For most of February when I rowed even that little bit, I felt like I was struggling, struggling to go for longer than 30 minutes, and my distance for that was poopy. And that was in spite of working on some other equipment. Maybe my thryoid was trying to tank on me again, who knows. I'm feeling lots better now.

Anyway, I rowed 11,111 meters today, and I just realized it's the 11th of March--how weird is that?? :?

--Jen in WI

11,111 on 11th is pretty weird!

I will row my millionth meter on St. Patrick's day if all goes well. I have rowed 10+ K a day in March.
I am writing this because I did not want to row today but if I didn't I wouldn't make 1,000,000 on Friday.
Now I have to keep it up!

Susan

PS: we have a well. No electric means no water too! :)
