Which one - model D or E????

Post by rambeaux » July 20th, 2011, 10:44 pm

I am definitely new to rowing and will be purchasing in the next few days. I'm trying to decide on model D or E. Mobility and flexibility are not an issue now, but in looking to the future, would the E model with the added height be a better choice. The cardio monitor is attractive as well, although I realize that I can upgrade on the D model. Any thoughts, suggestions or other advice will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Unless you have a special need to get a rower that's built like a Hummer with a fixed monitor arm get a Model D2 with PM4 or get a dynamic.

Model E has been ruggedized to withstand the punishment that machines in public gyms endure. You don't need that for a home machine.

Every time I move forward on a purchase the pattern is the same, research, test, more research - then buy.

I had the opportunity to use a Model D PM3 in my CrossFit gym, it rocks and is rock solid. I'm 6'4" and 230+. As I was researching for purchase I decided I wanted the PM4 because I'm pushing 50 and I do need to be aware of the heart. Found a few Modek D with the Pm3 on cr...list.org, amazing how these machines hold their value. I finally decided to get the Model E since I was looking to buy a new Model D to get the PM4. Should be delivered some time next week.

Why didn't you buy the D/PM3 then buy an upgrade PM4 from C2? You could sell the used PM3 on eBay or Craigslist.

Get a Model D if you suffer from Vertigo.

The D is easier to work on and has an adjustable monitor arm. I wouldn't agree the E is stronger as the legs are longer and hence more leverage on the frame mounting points. The D is the stronger version for racing on and the E is for Gyms as it attains a better presence due to it's height and is better for old people who have trouble getting on and off a low seat.

If you are a true Amerikan you want an E, big and sturdy and takes up lot's of pace, otherwise the D is fine, the moniter can be the same. The D is also a bit cheaper.

If you ever get slides the E will be a little higher than you may feel comfortable with. A D with slides is still lower than the E. Slides will add about 2 inches in height.

I doubt that anyone could call me a "true Amerikan" in the usual sense, but as ancient of any culture, I find the high seat of the E appealing. At least I wouldn't feel that I needed help getting on and off. Space? Yeah, they all take up too damn much space, especially my current D with slides. I am strongly tempted to go for the dynamic. It has the smallest footprint when setup (although storage is another matter) and the prototype had a seat height that was more to my liking. Price is a negative for the dynamic, of course, especially since I already have a D on hand.

Re sturdy: My old B was built like the proverbial brick outhouse (its seat was too low, but I was 5 years younger when I had it - and a lot sprier).

One thing to consider is where/how will you listen to music, or grab your water bottle. I like the E for the sitting height as it is easy to get into my shoes, but without a cup holder the D makes it far easier to reach a bottle of water sitting on the floor.

+1.
Easier to reach the water bottle, kleenex, etc.
I'm not too old for the lower height (60) and hope flexibility doesn't restrict me that much in old age!
I bought the D model because I got a great deal on a used one in pristine condition.
Previous owner gave up on exercise after just a couple months.
Didn't have the upgraded monitor, but I had an Omron heart monitor with chest strap and holder for bicycle bar, which just happened to fit on the center piece of the handle. I have great visibility and it was cheap and easy to install.

Really can't go wrong with either but I did go with the model E because of the height difference. Mine should be here tomorrow.

One thing i love about Concept D or E is the simplicity they are NOT loaded with plastic or Electronics that Will breake it is rare to find a produkt in this segment for the private marked that Can last really last and take a beating.

So just stop both D and E Will do just fine, I use both I have have a model D with PM3 and I use a E model with PM4
In the fitness center.

The only equipment i have that is more resilient and that is able to give the same High full body training is my Kettlebells
In fact Kettelbells are similar to rowing, but it takes quite som time to get propper tecnic.
I dont find a significant difference Pm3 or PM4.
I am 54 i dont use hart rate If I Can row below 2:00 is it just fine
