1500m warm up followed by 12K UT1.

46:19.2 (1:55.8) @ 21spm AVG HR 169

1500m cool down. It was nice and comfortable and it was easy to keep my heart rate in check. I'll probably go for a long run tomorrow as it's going to be spring temperatures in Philly!

10k tonight.38:39.7(1:55.9)

This was16 seconds (0.8) faster than last Friday.

I did it as 5 x 2k with no recoveries for the first time ever and found it quite helpful. My SB and Lwt PB is 38:15 so gotta keep at it.....would love to get under 38...and that's what I'll be trying to do so a new journey begins.

Son in Laws funeral today, not a good day.

Started a 30r20 in the evening but jacked it in after 18mins, didn't have the enthusiasm to finish.

Hopefully back on track next week.

this week
Tuesday PM arr in Brussels -> my favorite gym is closed and no obvious alternative so no 1402m -> 14hours asleep = new lifetime PB (think I was tired)
Wednesday search for C2 erg is fruitless - all competing gyms are closed because of Basic Fit (15Eu per month and cant compete) so 20' on a Matrix erg and weights
Thursday -> train to Amsterdam and back -> lunch and sightsee with Henry (hjs), Dani (who rocks) and Haico (Dutch Aussie 12th in 40+hwt at Boston) - had a really nice time and great to catch up and talk erg for a while
Friday - 15' ote and weights
That's it! Weekend in Aachen and home Mon/Tuesday
Over and out

Earlier in the week had decided on a 20r/10k today at 180w:

10k @ 20r/ 183w 2:04.0

Wasn't too difficult. Moving forward I'm going to drop back to 5k and bump up to 185w. Work that up to 10k, drop back to 5k and go to 190w, keep building it.Long term goal is 200w for 10k. I'll do two 20r sessions per week and a sprint session. Haven't quite figured out how to balance the erg and the boat. I may stay with 2-3 erg sessions per week; hopefully I'm going harder OTW this year so I can maintain fitness.

Good plan, take a hard step forward then back to sustainable pace, then another step forward and so on.

Good luck with it.

Thanks Nick, good to see you're working your way back through your recent hard ships. I've found you can't just keep going harder and harder week after week. 3-4 week build, drop back, and build again.See where it takes me.
