It's been a while..

This week I've logged my first proper session in a while, well according to the Concept Log since April 2013! So here we go again, I'm not sure what's triggered it but I've decided to give the erg another chance. Last time I got pretty addicted and to be honest it did me no favours as I pretty much stopped all other training and just did sessions on the erg for pretty much 12 months. Consequently the early gains I made soon disappeared as I found although my engine was in great shape I lost strength and the times suffered. Then I lost faith and just about gave up bar the occasional effort to remind me I was done with it.

So this time around I'm determined not to get over committed and to ensure I involve weights and other types of cardio in my routine. I'm also keen to learn good technique and see where it takes me. I've always been the fast starter that either blows up or just about finishes a s session, so in order to break this habit I'm starting off with slow sessions with the occasional interval thrown in.

First session back was 30 mins at r18 and came in at 6680m and average 2:14.8 so a long way to go but I'm in no rush this time.

A few months of that stuff will do a lot of good. Another 30 odd years even more.

Yep, a few months of variety and slower, disciplined erging will do you no harm at all.

I'm really enjoying the longer erg sessions and I feel loads better for it too

30 min session 2 today 30:00 -6913m - 2:10.1 R17

Pleased with the improvement on session 1 2:14 to 2:10 I'll enjoy that whilst I can! It felt good and was nice and consistent across the splits.
Is R17 too low? I've never been anywhere near this rate in the past rarely dropping below 25.
