elbow pain

Post by kbaktidy95@gmail.com » August 25th, 2011, 7:39 pm

When I'm doing high pressure sprint pieces like 1k and 2k's, I get a severe pain on the inside of my elbow. It feels like my arm is getting ripped apart every stroke. What can I do to fix it. Is it an overuse injury, or a problem with my technique.

Hello,

If you search the postings for elbow you will find a lot of posts about elbow pain that may be helpful.

I wear a strap just below my elbow - but that is for pain on outside of elbow - it helps to reduce strain on where the tendon joins the bone - I do not know if the same thing will work in your case but look at the earlier posts and see what they came up with.

Research Golfer's elbow and Tennis elbow and see if you can test for those. They come from the tendon rubbing the elbow bone. They is much advice on how to treat.

I got Golfer's elbow from adding wrist action at the end of the stroke to add a few meters. I had to take 2 or 3 months off. Now I row without that wrist action and no more problem. I do try to do the wrist streching when I think of it.

Hello,

Some years ago Byron Drachman posted on this forum about a handle that he had made that allowed the erger to change the orientation of the elbows and I believe it was done to help with elbow pain.

Basically he got 2 D shaped shovel handles from a gardening shop, and attached them to the end of the usual handle.

This allows the user to have the fists vertical instead of horizontal, changing the orientation of the tendons and bones at the elbow.

Byron may be able to tell you more about what he did if he is still actively posting on the forum

Hey Byron .......... are you out there ?
