Military Challenge

Taking part in one of Concept2's individual challenges? This is the place to talk about it.

Military Challenge

I've only been rowing for three weeks and I'm feeling very motivated by the challenges.

I have noticed that there has been a new challenge added for the month of February called the Military Challenge. After reading the "rules" for the challenge, I realized that I can't participate because I have never been in the military.

I have emailed concept2 and asked them to please consider adding "Honor" branches to the challenge for those of us who have never served, but who would like to honor (or support) a specific branch for someone who has served. For example, I am a middle school classroom teacher and my class has been writing letters and sending care packages to three awesome Marines who just finished their deployment in Afghanistan. I would like to row in February for the Marines in honor of their service.

If anybody else is interested in rowing in honor of a serviceman or woman, would you please email Concept2 and ask them to consider adding "Honor" branches to the challenge? I think it is important to let those in uniform know how much we appreciate their service. Thank you!

Good for you! I kind of got the idea the whole Military Challenge was to honor our vets - note all the adaptive categories to get our returning heros involved. Since all the challenges are just informal tools to get people motivated to keep up a healthy lifestyle, I doubt you'll get "thrown out" if you participate. Start your own affiliation group, name it appropriately and I'm sure you'll get several (at least) people to join you. Go for it! (I'd be interested in what C2 says, though).

We're into the Military Challenge! The Army and Navy keep swapping positions, depending on how many people sign on - the meters rowed is pretty similar. I'm rowing for the U.S. Navy affiliation. My friend (definitely not a military person) is on there as well. Just pick a military affiliation on your profile page and start rowing. Go Navy, Beat Army!
