I have never seen Rowing magazine here in France so I have a subscription to Row360. I am curious what they listed as legal PE's

Dietary nitrates from beet juice (vasodilation)

Beta alanine (increased muscle carnisine (regulation of intracellular pH, increase of calcium uptake to muscles, reduction of oxidative damage)

Caffeine (reduction of perceived effort and pain signals)

Electrolytes (hydration/rate of fluid absorption)

Creatine monohydrate (accretion of lean body mass/hypertrophy, endurance and sprint performance)
* listed as "high risk" supplement frequently mixed with banned substances

Sodium bicarbonate (regulation of extracellular pH)

General health supplements (protein, vitamins, amino acids)

Thank you for listing all of that, I only drink beet juice off the list and occasionally protein shakes but it's pretty rare. I have had a lot of friends try sodium bicarbonate and all of them ended up with severe gastro intestinal distress, I found that funny.

Competitor list for upcoming World Games http://www.worldrowing.com/mm//Document ... eutral.pdf
From the list of all the people who had qualified a lot of these competitors seem like safe bets for representing there respective countries to pass all doping controls. Quite a few competitors, dare I say, we might consider long in the tooth :D. 40+ is the new 30.

Thanks - that is very interesting. Winner is 5:42 which you don't see very often and Shurmei beat Benton after they didn't meet in Boston.
Olena Buryak smashed her WR to 6:22 - wow - she is an amazing athlete.

And Bondarenko sets a new HW 40-49 Wr and takes bronze. I think Bentons domination is coming to an end.
