His weakness in the Vuelta was mainly a weak team, with a few teammates he would have survived. But he is not natural climber and again his team is not super and his main teammate got eliminated in the motor accident.

Movistar was already pushing it before the accident. Although super crap, its part of cycling.
Last year, Kruiswijk was by far number the strongest rider, again with a weak team, after his fall, he left alone and had to ride 100km on his own with broken bones. All Italians riding for Nibaly. If a peleton smells a "wounded" animal it goes for the kill... and spain italy in the end always help fellow country man, northern europa much less so.

True, Dumoulin is not a natural climber, but he is very much like Indurain, and I think he may be strong enough to limit his losses in the Dolomites, and dominate the last TT.

Stage tomorrow long and flat and Eurosport (FUBO) coverage from eggs to apples. Kirby asks "Who thought that was a good idea?" Short attention span that one; shouid be calling twilit crits. So it's boring? Either call the race or get another job, Plummy.

Yeah, but the stages can,t be all tough, sometimes in the Vuelta they manage to find mountains every stage.

Boring doesn't bother me. Henry. I can row thru it.

Thats beyond me, when I train I can watch nothing. plus those races, for me, it only about the general classification, so those sprintdays mean little.

I admit that I would lose the thread worrying with nonstop DVDs and personal playlists, prolly cause I wasn't born into 24/7 infotainment world. The time-honored and finely-tuned ritual of break and pack (fox hunting on bikes and the hunters taking turns playing the fox) doesn't require all that much concentration. I follow the GC but there is a deeper appeal that doesn't require so much headspace as to interfere with a maintenance row or uncomplicated pace push.

Thomas out today. Not the shoulder but his knee force him to do so.

Further, Nibaly and Quintana will make the race and will join forces if possible. "3 min room is needed" as buffer with the last time trial at the end.

Mobistar/Quintana will attack in the climbs, Nibaly will also use the decents. Which last year brought him the victory, putting Kruijswijk under pressure to make a mistake.

About 12" into Quintana. No weakness. Long day for the designated rabbits on the flat and I wish Kelly would dump about a gallon of ice cream on Kirby! He never shuts up!

Beautiful stage in Lombardy. Very hot. Very fast. Kangert does spectacular endover, breaks elbow. Dumoulin turning 460watts. Qunintana down and trashes bike. Dumoulin merciful, helps him limit damage. Don't try that with Nibs! Big crowds In Bergamo. Jungels sneaks in another win. Mortirola twice on Wednesday stage.

Could be hellacious holding action for Dumoulin. There will be many heavy legs and hesitant wills after rest day. Time for a test.

Without a real leading team I expect early attacks from top 10 riders.
D. Expects a very tough day, maybe super super heavy. But says to "ready" feeling good and well trained for it.

Sunwebs plan of attack is to have a guy at front all times.

Good legs offset bad tum and Dumoulin still in pink. Best ride I've ever seen from Quintana. Kirby, while watching the chopper feed of a landslide on the Stelvio, sez we should all take care because "geological time includes today." Mushmouths his way thru the race commentary and then this clear as a bell, go figure?

Crap, would not suprice me if this is the end for Dumoulin, stomach trouble again! The rest is close, could become a Nibaly/quintana race. The rest for third. Hope I am wrong ofcourse
