Mark,

Fair enough; we all have difficult patches. For me it is getting back into the steady 60 mins rows.

I find that post BIRC training this is not easy and so I am using 20, 22 and 24 spm pyramids to hit 1:53 average split whereas before I started to work at 2k speed I was d...

No.

steady 10k has different effect.

10x1k is too much if trying to get the best benefit from 1k work and 20 sec recovery is not much use either.

If you are using the 1k to develop speed then 4 x 1k with say 5 min rest is much better.

If you want base fitn...

Not sure about abs but certainly work on the core muscles will be beneficial. This will help maintain good upright posture. (For example whn starting the recovery helping to bring the body "up and over" the hips and just before starting the drive ensuring that body i.e. back stabilised and can be he...

Then there is the "oh so cool" type who thinks he has text book technique, low stroke rate, sub 1:55 splits, rows for at least 20 min steady and with no straps.

Not so many of these about but generally can be recognised by aloof nature, arrogant stare, tutting at those who "clank the chai...
