Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Might not be much to brag about compared with some of the times here, but just knocked 40s off my 40+ 5k time hitting 20m38sec. Haven’t done a 2k trial in ages (only just back rowing again), I’ll give one a go Friday and see how close I can get to my 2005 pb of 7m31. Might be tricky as I’m so used t...

Re: Skillrow vs Concept II

A lot of posts here about whether it's worth it. Looks bloomin' expensive to me and I'm certainly not considering buying one (or a Concept II for that matter!). I was just looking for experiences of how it compares re. distance/times to the Concept II (probably because my times are rubbish on this n...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

BPP week 20 starts with 12,000m steady state row. Certainly the longest I've every rowed. Supposed to start at a slow pace and gradually increase after 6km. I opted to go out at 2:!5 for the first half but never really made it much faster. My average for the entire piece was only 2:14.4 I wouldn't ...

Re: Skillrow vs Concept II

I know this is a Concept II forum so any talk of other rowers might be al little frowned upon, but my gym has jut changed to Techgym SkillRow machines. Your better option is to change gym to one that has the gold standard of rower. I'd love to but this gym works really well for me (and my wife). Mu...

Re: Skillrow vs Concept II

http://row-360.com/technogym-skillrow-rowing-machine-review/ This site says Technogym "have calibrated their machine to produce scores that are directly comparable to the Concept2." If it has a flywheel that's possible, whatever the brake system. At 3500 €, almost 4000 USD I won't be in the queue, ...

Re: Rowing to Regain Myself

Good effort so far, and great to hear you're combining fitness with diet. I've been back at the gym 2 months but had no weight loss, turns you you can't magic away those lbs with a bit of training and the same old diet. Some tough choices ahead.....especially that gorgeous cream roulade birthday cak...

Re: Training (Pete Plan) with injury

Thanks Mike, i certainly know you have to 'listen' to your injury and react accordingly. It's so frustrating not to be able to do the things you could 10 years ago due to injury, but hey I suppose that catches us all with older age at some point! The main frustration with rowing is I cannot get the ...

Re: New member just completed first 5000m

Don't compare yourself to other people; it should only ever be a battle against yourself. There are some serious power munchers out there and it can be disheartening if you try and wonder why you can't do it too, but genetics and lots of training plays a big part in the outliers performances This i...

Training (Pete Plan) with injury

Just back in the . gym (again - 6 weeks in) and time to being the Pete plan (again - started many times, never finished). I have a knee injury which means I'm down on power on my right leg, training will strengthen this but the injury is chronic so it is never going to be a good as my left. this cau...

Skillrow vs Concept II

I know this is a Concept II forum so any talk of other rowers might be al little frowned upon, but my gym has jut changed to Techgym SkillRow machines. I'm not looking for an argument on the merits if different machines (either way they are definitely a step up from the water rowers they had!), I'm ...

Holy cow, 1'17! I've never even pulled below 1'30, let alone keep it up for 500m.

Top effort.

Re: I'm not sure I like rowing anymore ;-)

and another bad day yesterday......Bailed @3k. Lower back trouble again so I'm definitely gonna have to strip down my technique and see if that is causing the issue. Might just be a generally weak lower back, still building strength from being off my feet for a few weeks earlier in the year. :o Stra...
