Re: Noob question/advice

Thanks Tony and Dangerscouse; Both your posts got me thinking and I realised what I was doing wrong and why I was struggling so much to keep the HR down. I had been trying to keep the same pace start to finish, ignoring the fact that as muscles fatigue, as I've not built endurance into them yet, th...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Finally got under 1:20 for 500m. Just barely held off the fly and die at the end. I think for my next round of 500m training I’ll get some higher volume days in at race pace, as my last 3 TTs at this distance were a tough fight at the end. I understand that every 500m TT has some amount of slowing ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

.. I managed to get under 1:20 for the one minute thrash.. nice. You lift, or is the power all coming from rowing ? Under 1:20 (680 watts) is pretty strong. If lifting, what sort of leg press weight or squat weight do you use ? I have lifted on and off over the years but never enough to get a good ...

Re: Dangerscouse

If you enjoy your reggae, why not give Eek-a-Mouse a try, if you haven't already - very mellow, i often listen to them while rowing. Paul G Now, if we're getting on to mellow reggae, I'd also highly recommend: Misty In Roots, Burning Spear, Zap Pow, The Dynamics (Version Excursions; their version o...

Re: Noob question/advice

The difference in average HR after the same 45m session was 159 vs 150 - both numbers above the 70% range, (RHR is about 64) so I think it's going to take me a while before I can get my hr down into the UT2 zone regardless. Imo, you need to slow down to a maximum of 70%, and is that 70% of max HR, ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Never rowed in person personally which is a shame.....would probably be too nervous   Adrenaline is your biggest concern! Nerves quickly disappear when you meet people that you know, but don't 'know' ie virtual erging mates. It's a great buzz and worth doing, albeit it can be a dispropor...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I believe this was a session from an in person event call Just Row or something like that. So max metres for points would be the name of the game......for me survival was the name of the game. I was at Just Row. I remember the 12 mins, and a one minute thrash, I don't remember the other bits proper...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Team WOW session which turned out was pretty nasty. This is served in 3 courses....4',3',2',1' with 2'R between at 2k+1 then -ve split.....rest 9' then 12' at 5k pace for max metres....rest 9' then 1' full beans. Worst bits for me were the 4'/3' at around 2k pace and then the latter stages of the 1...

Re: Dangerscouse

You're making them, outstanding, you could match the bpm to spm, I'd be really interested in what your track list looks like.. I've got a few of them uploaded to Soundcloud if you're interested. I don't publicise them at all, mainly because I can't be bothered, so I don't really know why I upload t...

Re: Dangerscouse

I've ordered jitwam third, it's got to be worth a listen. And Kingston shuffle, you can't beat a good recommendation 👍😎 I love Jitwam, but he's excelled himself on this one. Really ear-arresting! I'm a sucker for a reggae compilation, and this one is particularly good, with some artists / bands I'v...

https://i.postimg.cc/tndYbTNS/IMG-20220810-080851-492.webp Until last night and reading Keith say about having 10 days off, I hadn't accounted for my 10 days off and the affect that would have on me, especially atm. Notwithstanding a rising HR, the RPE felt easier as it increased so I didn't worry ...

Re: Dangerscouse

The cure mixed, I lined the album up, original then remix one track at a time, bookmarking is a doddle on the Walkman. Some tracks, sound amateur, but three tracks are awesome. I worked in Trinidad for a few years in the 90s, and I swear it's almost a reggae back beat he's got going on there, well ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Vacation was great. I really needed it physically and mentally. I did a light weight workout yesterday and plan to row today - will be 10 days since last row, even longer than originally planned. Wont push too hard today. Good to hear that, and 10 days off always leaves its mark on me, so a not too...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Just wanted to post why I have suddenly disappeared from the forum. I fractured my leg while on holidays. I had the operation 3 weeks ago. Now, I have to be patient until I am given the OK to put weight on it again. In the long run, I am sure that rowing will be an important part of my recovery. Bu...
