Re: Forum Flyers
Super endurance effort, Elizabeth
How does Paul Smith’s Law stand up to the scale of this marathon x 2 doubling and change?

Re: Forum Flyers
Short thread with linked demo video on race starts. Has been up since 7 May but still relevant to execution of the current CTC HIIT challenge as well to 2k comps at live venues.

Re: Clipless pedals for the C2 rower
Knew a roadie back a ways. Rode a Serrotta Colorado TI. Obsessed about his ‘Q-factor.’ One sick puppy.

Re: Forum Flyers
Yes, buns, bums, butts, bottoms, keesters, derrieres, what have you. NonAthlon was ‘fun’ the one year I managed to check all the boxes. (HInt: 100 points for full marathon can really dress up an otherwise weakfish score.) And Flyers turn to concoct the bitter pill for August CTC as per Joe Heaton in...

Re: Forum Flyers
Gotta tell ya, Dave, been several years since I could happily produce even 27 spm for anything like 3’. My rate 30 thrash almost didn’t happen. I don’t recall deploying more than back and arms @ 33. The wheelhouse telegraph sez more turns but the engine room sez un-uh. That minute rest is absolute b...

Elizabeth writes: . . . and the only real difference seemed to be the exact timing the catch and drive, in relation to the end of the rest period. Nothing wrong with either your means of expression or your powers of observation. Some stuff to consider: 1) the sensor records acceleration of flywheel ...

Re: Forum Flyers
Addendum to post preceding this: Should have made clear that half, 3/4, full is for race start or first rep in HIIT.

Re: Forum Flyers
Awesome work, Anna! Hopefully we can get another female to launch another boat. I saw that next month's challenge is up: 10 x 100m / 1 minute rest Standing start first rep. Subsequent reps as you like. I like to sit there gasping and then lightly row until the next interval. Does anyone know if the...

Might do. Go here⬇️ https://log.concept2.com/challenges Year-round rowing challenges for collegiate, corporate, military unit, and gym-based teams and of course also ‘virtual’ internet aggregations. Mostly seasonal ‘participation’ (meter muncher) challenges, personal fitness ‘start-me-ups’, and per...

Re: Setting on flywheel
Even highly trained Olympians do not train or race at Damper 10. They're more likely to train on a coach prescribed drag factor that's designed to match the boat (single, pair, quad or eight) that they'll be rowing on the river or lake. Argument and explanation from and of first causes (in this cas...

Anna Rae sez: . . . (Once I have recovered from this foolish, yet appropriately-named, individual April Fools Challenge. Does seem a bit like marathon dancing, flagpole sitting, and the six day races all rolled in one until one finds Judy Geer, 3 time US National Rowing Team Olympian, rowerging righ...

Re: Forum Flyers
Elizabeth, I appreciate that you appreciate the argument made from the pov of geratric weakness. OTOH, 285 watt average for a tough 15’ certainly ain’t chopped liver!
Very best argument in favor of sticking to your high expectations of yourself.

Re: Forum Flyers
I didn’t see a reference to target pace in the challenge rules? Targets set conditional on the encumbering terms of the challenge are a very good idea. Aspirational targets ego-spawned are a recipe for suffering, if not necessarily abject failure.
