Re: Questions about USB/Charger.
BTW, I don't know of any dynamos connected to the pedals. It's possible in theory, but there's not much space there. Wheel hubs and "bottle" dynamos that use friction against the rim are more usual, but again very few that have the right kind of output. It's an odd situation.

Re: Questions about USB/Charger.
Thanks. There are hub dynamos for bicycles, but they're mostly designed to run on the front wheel since the rear wheel is usually the drive mechanism, so they're mostly impractical for stationary "trainers" because the front wheel isn't even on the bike or it's stationary. I figured since the Model ...

Re: Questions about USB/Charger.
Stop worrying - it's only the PM4 that has the rechargeable batteries. The power generation feature on a model D/PM3 is only there to stop the D-cells going flat so quickly (9months rather than 6months in daily gym usage). If you get a PM4 simply remove the rechargeable battery pack and fit a pair ...

Questions about USB/Charger.
I currently have a Model C erg with a PM2+ monitor and was considering my upgrade options. I gather that the Model D and E have a dynamo that can be used to either power, or charge batteries in, the monitor (depending on whether it's a PM3 or PM4). I also understand that I can upgrade the monitor on...

Joining Team Canada
I responded recently to an invitation to join Team Canada that was in my inbox from a Louis-Eric Simard. I first just replied to the message, but that apparently didn't work, so I went to his profile page and sent an email through that route. I just noticed today that I am not listed on the team, so...

It sounds to me that your slides are not level. If you think that's not the reason then turn the slides around in the other direction. They're level, or at least as level as it's possible to make them without nuclear technology. If turning them around makes a difference then there's some sort of ir...

What matters here is that each slide is level, not necessarily in relation to each other. If you have the front of each slide level with the back of each slide then you should be balanced in the center. In lieu of this, if you are constantly going more to the front, just raise up the front of each ...

Question about slide travel.
After a move I set up my slides as recommended, with an 18 inch gap. For some reason the slide travel during a session seems to have moved "forward" so that it takes place in the forward 2/3rds of the slides. I don't recall this having been the case before. When I stop rowing and get off the device ...

OTOH if the flywheel keeps hitting the wall, you may solve the problem altogether and create the extra 8 inches. At first I thought you had a solution. The flywheel housing actually bumps the front, which isn't a wall but my roommate's TV stand. The "resting" position of the erg is, i...

Question about shortened slide setup.
I gather that the recommendation for the gap between slides for a single erg setup is around 18 inches. The problem is that I don't have that much room, but don't want to use the stationary erg. I wonder what the effect would be if I set up the slides with a gap of just 10 inches, which is about the...

You're so fortunate to have the pm2 monitor. Program the distance as usual, i.e. the 5k. Click the arrow to [rest], set the rest time and you're ready to go. You can't tell it how many reps? As I recall (though I could be wrong) the only way out of the loop is to exit. Will the data on each 5K spli...

PM2+ Programming Question
Is it possible to program the PM2+ (or PM2) to, say, record two 5X intervals with a 2 minute rest in between, without linking it to a computer? I seem to recall this is possible, but so far all I can do is program single rather than multiple intervals.

I'd say the upgrade to a PM3 is a good deal, if I could figure out some way to recharge the batteries. My PM4 has the factory fitted rechargeable battery. I simply connect it to the USB on my laptop (or desktop) to recharge it. (One more reason to choose PM4 rather than PM3.) A decent D Cell charge...

I've yet to understand why John Rupp dislikes the PM3/PM4. The PM2+ uses AA batteries, which are easily rechargable. The PM3/4 uses D Cells, and I don't even know hat a D Cell recharger costs. But the PM3/4 also has auto-shut-off, which the PM2+ doesn't. (Consequently I sometimes run the batteries ...
