ErgData App
I've been playing around with the Erg Data app at my gym. I had to update the firmware on 4 PM3s, 2 were the original factory firmware, 2 were the #92 firmware. But it was easily done. I'm trying to get an idea of what to look for and what some of the the metric mean. I understand the basic definiti...

Re: Point me in the right direction
Kudos for taking steps to improve your health and fitness via rowing. All the suggestions by lindsayh, hjs and jamesg are good ones. Remember though that weight loss beings in the *** DELETE - SPAM *** with "push aways"--push away from the table. So good diversified nutrition with reasonable portion...

Re: Model B chain came off and doesn't retract
The chain should just easily fit back into the sprockets (?) on either of the two gears, just like replacing a bike chain. As far as repairing the retraction mechanism, C2 does have a good guide on replacing the shock cord which includes replacing the gearing that connects the chain to the shock cor...

Re: Distance calculation
You might wish to look at your technique a bit. Not quibbling with your distance, power or formulas at all. Differences between your 1/2 hour and hour rows are in line with Paul's law (double the distance/time add 5 seconds to pace/500m). But your stroke rate is in the sprint range for a long distan...

Re: Workout plan without erg to prepare for rowing
Where do you live? Any rowing clubs nearby? Any crossfit gyms nearby? Seek these out for instruction and maybe use of a machine. Also check around your area for other gyms that may have a couple of rowing machines. They'll be unused a lot of the time. Gold's usually has them. Some 24 Hour fitness fr...

Re: POLL - Should Challenge/Honor Board leaders verify milea
I struck a vote for "only the Challenges". Mainly to lift the category out of its egg-shaped status. I tend to agree with Carl that tech will soon help narrow some of these gaps. Challenges and organized competition should probably be the primary sources for verified distance results and records, so...

Mike, May I suggest you google Pete Marston's Beginner training plan. http://thepeteplan.wordpress.com/beginner-training/ The plan goes into a great deal of specifics and what each session is trying to accomplish. You can start where ever you like, or are fit to start based on longer rows. Once comp...

Re: Sample Diet Plan?
What it all boils down to regarding diet, is to eat a well balanced diet that includes fruits, veggies, carbs, meat-red and white, fish, some saturated fat, some unsaturated fat, dairy, including prepared foods, et.al.. But it's all about portion control. Too much of something will add weight and ma...

Re: Need help lowering my time!
Jamesg's advice will work in the long run. I suspect you need a quicker improvement as your performance in States and Sweeps will be viewed by potential college programs. You're stroke in 8/4s. You have a coach. See your coach. He/she knows more about your abilities and capabilities than anyone. Bes...

Re: Buy local vs Concept2 site vs Amazon
I'd like to chime in here. Regards of where you buy your erg, local, Amazon or C2, remember the erg was built by C2. And if you ever need anything, advice, replacement parts, how-tos, etc., C2 has a great customer support system. And reasonably fast shipping if needed. Unlike some software companies...

Re: Steady state and running
Thanks for the hasty replies, though I am still wondering if 90 minutes today is a good amount to be doing, and if so how often I should take rest days, and if not what should I do instead? I agree in the main with jamesg. Just keep doing what you're doing. However, regarding your last question on ...

Bernd57....is this a PM2+ where you can hook up to a computer or HR Monitor? Or is it the older PM2? And ebay might be your best bet on selling.

Re: Made an app for tracking rowing workouts. What do you th
Looks interesting, especially the charts. But there are several apps out there that do as much and more. Can you link/upload to the C2 log? Or to a PM3/4 monitor? Data only post workout? Data only pace? Can you see watts? Avg SPM? Anything to show during workout? Can you see intervals or spit distan...
Re: Pyramid
Whoever gave you this workout should have explained what you are trying to accomplish. I haven't heard of this particular pyramid, not sure what's being accomplished by doing 225 strokes. The pyramid structure is usually used to break up the monotony of a longer rows and get you to experience differ...
