Re: Row then lift or lift then row?

I only lift two days a week and use an easy row as a warm up. Typically either a 10k or 30 minutes on the erg at 2:17, r22. This gets me loose and ready for my barbell training. I don't really row hard or long enough to significantly effect my weight training on those days. I save my more challengin...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Decided to try the Summer Solstice challenge today as a half marathon, but it was not meant to be. I had to go to work and do some surgery this morning which gave me a later start. After 11km I knew it was not meant to be and took a break for 20 minutes to walk around and eat a banana. Limped my way...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Hi all, I am 52 years old, 6' (1.83) tall, 15st (95kg) Have only started going to gym 3 or 4 months ago after not doing any exercise for years ( retired from rugby @ 40) and discovered the rowing machine. Now going 3 or 4 times a week. I am now on week 5 of the BPP I completed the 7000 m last night...

Re: Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), also known as electromyostimulation

Thanks. I’m not a troll but appreciate the want to keep any forum clear of them. This is my first post to the forum. Everyone has a first. I have had my concept2 model C for a couple of years (bought second hand and fitted a PM5). I use the same user name as on the forum for my logbook. It’s not th...

Re: Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), also known as electromyostimulation

He's trolling... Why do you say that? Could be a legitimate question. My understanding of these devices is that they have never been shown to improve performance or enhance muscular training in athletes or even people with no athletic endeavor. There is some evidence that they may help debilitated ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

2k total time 7.34.7 1.53.6/500m 26s/m One of my targets for this year was 7.40, so smashed that. :D Didn't think I'd be able to finish at about 500m to go, but suddenly there was only 300m left, which felt manageable. Counted down the last 30 strokes. Bleurgh. Very nice!! Impressive progress and y...

Bizarrely, one of the ergs at the gym I go to has a DF of 58 with the lever pushed up to 10. One of the others only goes up to 80ish.

It feels very hard to get any force into the stroke. Those machines must be filthy on the inside.
Someone should get a photo of the inside of that erg.

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Tried an interesting 30 minute, r20 session for me today. 10 minutes at 2:20, 10 minutes at 2:15 and 10 minutes at 2:10. This really helped me focus in on making my drive a bit more powerful and really relaxing on the recovery. A good teaching piece for me as I continue to try and improve my techniq...

Re: 6 months stuck - need some help

It sounds like you are getting your diet under better control, but perhaps it would still be worth you looking at your actual daily caloric intake. Really the best way to lose weight is not exercise alone, but a strict adherence to a specific caloric intake daily. Have you tried rowing before breakf...

Re: Asensei

Anyone here using Asensei with their rower? Shane Farmer mentioned them on a workout video a couple of days ago. He's partnered with them so you can have him as a coach via their platform. I really like Shane's stuff so I am thinking of trying it for a while. How are you getting on with it now? I'v...

Re: Rowing in Zwift - suggestion to make it happen

Yes it looks good but will stay with RowPro until they sort out the interface and get a halfway decent cross power conversion. It will have to be pretty good as I notice its not cheap with a monthly payment. RowPro for the PC costs next to nothing. True. I paid my $99 a few years ago for Rowpro and...

did a 45min R19 session today, plan was to stay in UT2 (HR 135 max) but near max. Finished at 10735, AHR 131, 2:05,7 (176W). By far my fastest UT2 session, super happy with that :D
That's a nice session. It's always encouraging to see progress like that with a HR capped long piece.

Re: Rowing in Zwift - suggestion to make it happen

Just did my first Zwift row. A bit of a pain requiring two IOS devices, but was able to successfully connect my PM5 with painsled to my ipad running Zwift and then mirror my iPad to the TV screen in front of my rower. 30 minutes of erging through NYC central park with other bikers was fun. Zwift obv...

Asensei app update

I've been using the Asensei app for the past 2 weeks. I've now completed 6 workouts and have really enjoyed rowing "alongside" Eric Murray. Watching him row has helped my timing and technique. I think I tend to pull my arms a bit early but have been able to limit this with the app. Yesterday a signi...
