Re: Forum Flyers

OK, my back wasn't too bad this morning, not good either, still a fair amount of nerve pain in my right hip/butt, but I've been missing rowing and no activity isn't good for me either. So, I have *a* CTC challenge done. It is not a very good one. I could tell that I should not push at all, so that ...

Re: Forum Flyers

Surprise, I just joined your team. I hope that's ok with you folks :D I realize I should have asked before joining but I had read several posts that said you were open to new members so I just took a chance. Let me know if I am guilty of breaking etiquette. A little about me. New to concept2 machin...

Re: Forum Flyers

Welcome Andrew (Brown), our second Andrew (at least) after Andrew (Crystal). Good to have you aboard! Did my CTC this morning. Hard work, but got it done. With a furious last 4' I averaged about 2K + 0.9-2.0 (depending on which recent 2K I reference). Don't intend to do it again as I doubt that I co...

Re: Forum Flyers

I did my first 1000m sprint! Couldn't hardly breathe at the end! Wasn't real sure how it would go, but I figure I can't try every day, so earlier was better to see how it went in case I want and feel able to try again. The bad news is I realized I'd forgotten to make cold brew yesterday, so no coff...

Re: US Rowing Nationals (CRASH-Bs) 2020

I really enjoyed reading about your experience! Great write-up, almost felt like I was there! Don't know if I'd ever get to a race, as I currently live in a pretty small town, but I won't say never. It's a lot of fun  , at least AFTER having raced. The post-race socializing with others who...

Re: US Rowing Nationals (CRASH-Bs) 2020

Gregory & Mark, good to hear from you. One of the many fun things about this sport (to offset the misery of a hard 2K) is developing online friendships then meeting in person at least once a year at a race. Hope to see you both again sometime in 2021, if not sooner.

Re: US Rowing Nationals (CRASH-Bs) 2020

Jim, Ergzilla is a smallish ergatta in Harvard, MA (near Acton and Boxboro off Route I-495) put on by Holly Hatton of CRASH-Bs fame. She coaches out there. Mostly for high schoolers, but she's trying hard to attract older age groups and I like to support that. https://www.barehillrowing.com/ergzilla...

Re: Forum Flyers

No messing about, Jack. Early score to take the pressure off the rest of the month! And great write-up on the CRASH-Bs, Rick! Is still on my wishlist to get there one day, but I suspect I'll have to wait until after I retire given the timing and distance to get there. My wife did ask if I was done ...

US Rowing Nationals (CRASH-Bs) 2020

It was NOT a dark & stormy night. It was a bright & sunny day, albeit chilly, when my driver (PaulG of the forum) pulled up in front my house for our annual dose of top-flight erg pain. An hour later we sauntered into the Boston University Track & Tennis Center for yet another CRASH-Bs Indoor Sprint...

Re: Forum Flyers

I think I can do the CTC. If it's OK that I maybe get off the rower and stretch during the rest periods? I probably won't have a good score on that or the sprints. I did my 1K again today, went OK, but I found that twinges started if I pushed beyond 21 strokes per minute. The good news is they stop...

Re: Childish behavier.

I pushed for that verified filter option in the Rankings and it happened. Its time to sort the Challenges out the same way. From a software implementation point of view its very easy to do so when you look at the individual standings you can just hit the same filter. Also setup one verified only me...

Re: Rowing challenge

Doh! I can't believe that I forgot about this, but so did everyone else responding. Try the Nonathlon! https://www.nonathlon.com/ It was developed 19 years ago by Paul Harris and Andy Nield, and adjusts for gender, Hwt/lwt, and every single age (not just 10 year or 5 years age groups). And le...

Re: Rowing challenge

This will help with the weight difference: https://www.concept2.com/indoor-rowers/training/calculators/weight-adjustment-calculator As for gender, perhaps comparing records at 2K for an age group close to your ages would help you to make your own adjustment. Unfortunately I don't know of any way to ...

] Pic of our skipper in action at Paris. Had to rewind and squint to find him in the fugitive heat of the big 40-49 mhwt field run concurrent with the 40-49 flwt race. Got a screenshot of the “Waterbury Ice Scraper” also. Panning coverage of 70-75 mlwt much better than of Dave’s race. https://i.post...
