update-much has happened

Much has happened since the last time I wrote here. @ CIRC last winter I met Thomas, from our local rowing club. Thomas was just as interested in an adaptive rowing program as I, and we banded together, wrote a grant proposal, ( in 3weeks! to meet the deadline ). After getting the grant, we bought t...

Hey Big Fishy, How did it go for you? for me: In the end, I came home with a gold medal. unfortunately due to several cascading unforeseen circumstances, I was TOTALLY off my pace, off my stroke rate, off my split times AND did 1.1 seconds slower the my Nov. Rowing Canada erg. monitoring test (and 1...

Hi John, Yes, I spoke via email with the national adaptive team coordinator Allison ( who told me about the 120 drag factor ). When I asked why, she indicated anything higher then that is risking injury. I have discovered as you guessed, that around 33-38 is a stroke rate where in I get most power. ...

thank you PaulS for helping and reading through my lengty post. I did get told by Rowing Canada that a drag factor of 120 was the highest women were allowed to use for the tests (i asked why, because i previously used higher) she said due to risk of injury. I still have about two days to play around...

am I on the right 'track' in training?(specifics shared)

I LOVE the new pm3 monitor on the concept2D model. I have only rowed on it in for a few times but it is SO smooth, and the feedback is amazing. I am an adative rower (Trunk and arms only) and am training currently for the C.I.R.C. on Feb. 4th. My last Rowing Canada 1 km test was a time of 4:51.7 I a...

Holiday challenge, left me with a wound....

in my butt. No don't laugh.... seriously, I didn't notice it while rowing, but as the month went along it became obvious that the 'swing' of my hips over those sitting bones started to crack my butt, which eventually turned into a nasty  "bedsore" ( ergsore? ) Sitting around in a wheel...

at Rowing Canada I was told to keep the drag factor at 120 or less, putting the damper on around 3 3/4 to 4 range on the machines i use. this is presented as important to avert in juries. for me, what am working on ( to increase speed ) is lowering the strokes per min. as low as I can while pulling ...
