A bunch of new PBs

:o Well, they all come in a rush, don't they? About 2 weeks back, finally broke 6:40 for the 2k, a long time goal. This gave me the courage to go for a h/m, and while I was a bit disappointed, 1:20:25.4 is a new PB (was after that 1:20:00 level, of course). Those half marathons are different from ev...

Hour record on Tuesday: 15959. Keen to have a go at my 2k record. Now, what rule applies for you all? Mine is: half the distance, take 4-4.5 secs off the split. If only 4, I will average 1:40.7, and fail; if 4.5, then I will average 1:39.2 and cane my record. Any views on how long to recover from th...

They make them nasty in South London. I am also planning a nasty accident involving an ergometer, a kilo of butter, and an anvil

Thanks to all of you. My medium term aim is to beat a certain gentleman called Darryl Easton, whose Nov 05 times (2k: 6:40.8, 5k 17:31ish, h/m 1:19:51) are a reachable peak. He was rowing next to me yesterday, puffing along to a 6:55 owing to protracted illness and a broken foot. I honestly didn't m...

A 2k PB. Always the most painful distance, no?

6:41.1, aiming for 6:40.8 (the top 10%). Final push started at 200m out, which is a bit lazy. Was averaging 1:40.2 for the first 1k, so quite an even race.

Must do another!

Yeah, I sometimes think I just can't take the pain! I am a serious long distance from your 1k, but comfortable on the 10k. More muscles needed! Though I though 86kg was enough!

Just did 8227 for my 30 min.

Funny the way people's PB's are arrayed. I mean, there are times here (like 1:27 for 500m) which I could not come close, but the same person I can beat their 5k no problem. Hmm. Different shapes!

Great reply, entirely answers my question.

And great PB's - I think I will have to row a few more million metres to beat those!

Can there be "easy" and "hard" ergometer

Hi all I cannot believe I am the first to ask about this . . . The ergs at the gym at work are quite old. The ones at my home gym are the same make but clearly much newer. For some reason, I can't help feeling that the ones at work are much easier. I can't prove it, but when I broke my 6k record rec...
