Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Being a relative newcomer to these forums, I am shocked to see my rankings are so high for the 6k and 1hr, I did my first attempt at 1hour today and clocked up 14,335 at 2.05.5. No 1 in UK rankings for over 70's, so I am well chuffed. Has it killed everybody else off trying this time?  t...

Re: 12-week program - feedback wanted

Shane just posted this one up today!! I row most days as i do enjoy it a lot, but this video tells a completely different story. Obviously Shane is an expert on this kind of thing and i'm not! But i just can't see myself rowing so little per week. Still a very interesting video that you might want ...

Re: 55 it's either headed to the grave or rowing away from i

I'd work towards Edwards advice of the 20-24 rating. In the beginning, it's difficult to do, ESPECIALLY if your form is off. It could be that your form is indeed off: you mention specifically that your arms are burning. You may be bringing in your arms too soon. rowing is, as you noted , a PUSH off ...

Re: Not sure if i am over training on the erg?

I have no idea why you haven't mentioned your pace ( per 500 m ) or wattage or even calories since you and others are trying to lose weight. Dean, henry , carl and others (?) have mentioend pace specifically yet you have offered nothing. You keep talking about rating. how many calories have you burn...

Re: Eating well and training hard but not loosing body fat

Thanks for your help . question about the stretching , is this to improve flexibility for rowing peformance? you don't seem to understand a bunch of basic things. you are also revealing some things: you say that you row with the rowing club yet you don't now about stretching and flexibility issues....

2000 Calories / day. 125 grams of protein ... split it up however you want with fat and carbs for the remainder calories row low intensity & steady for 30 minutes at rating of 24-26 for 4 times per week. find a pace that allows normal conversation/ breathing throughout the activity. work on increasi...

Re: Eating well and training hard but not loosing body fat

I'll leave it for others to point out that it is nigh near impossible to GAIN weight when in a Calorie deficit. you can gain muscle while losing fat - this is true. it is also quite difficult although it has been done. so what you are doing is not working - you can't gain weight and have it be musc...

Re: Eating well and training hard but not loosing body fat

calorie intake :1300 daily. aim for 50 percent protein , 30 percent carbs and 20 percent fats. The other 30 percent is when i indulge in chocolate one night a week. I joined rowing to row, but I also want to feel good about the way I look and feel. I want to improve my rowing too . I train with the...

Re: Is it just me or do you close your eyes?

sometimes I do. I sometimes row in darkness in the basement to see if I can hit a constant number or close my eyes for a count to have my partner see if I am consistent in my strokes. however, at the gym, it has sometimes happens that the person alongside me has wobbled or fallen off the seat comple...

Matt, I don't run this joint so my post could essentially be disregarded. However, you have been asking random strangers for medical opinions, putting up questions about your training that inspite of yourself often do lead to good conversations . Essentially posting and reposting the same sort of qu...

Re: Personal training logs

Carl, agree with the statement concerning cheaters; it is an issue. for me, it is not a problem. it's fairly easy to see when something is complete bs. I don't have a keen eye on these things but if someone on here starts posting incredible numbers in terms of distance per time or watts or pace or w...
