Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
First time I've done a hard 30 minute effort. Training plan called for starting it at my 10k pace (1:52.5) and then speeding up near the end but I decided this was too easy and went a bit faster. Thought I'd overdone it During the middle section and then at the end I was really close to backing off ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Today I was doing 5 x 1500 metres at 1:48 pace and struggling a bit during the third rep and thinking of quiting the intervals, then I remembered armondo can do faster than that for a whole 10k, and convinced myself that most of wanting to stop was in my head, that I'd need more mental toughness if ...

Re: Should i just go on?
you can't always beat your fastest time. if you're having an off day just scale things back that day and try again next time. if you're beating or getting close to your fastest time every row you could stick with the program till you aren't progressing anymore. changing to another program might be t...

Re: Max Heart Rate: what is it?
can remember what its called but as part of a cycling training program i did the fitness test where you ride on a stationary bike and ride with the resistance ramping up gradually (like 10-15 minutes) till you can't go anymore at which point you try and sprint and theoretically hit your max heart ra...

Re: Using Heart Rate to Train Erg
anyone got a link to where i can see the chart for training bands based on % of 2k time please?
used to race bikes and had a power meter so i understand how all this stuff works and would agree power is massively superior to heart rate for training.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
well done jack! 1ks are my most hated intervals and the ones i struggle most with getting the pacing right, the fading at the end (or middle) feeling is horrid. new 10k pb for me 37:29.2 :) 40 second improvement on my previous time. had a goal of 1:54 pace in mind before i started and was just under...

Re: Sprints and Stuff- training/questions 1k and below
yeah looking at it the record seems very low compared to whats on the logbook rankings for other age groups, just nobody has logged a fast 1 minute in that age group.
I'd better try it soon
gaining 20m and beating it seems more realistic than 60m when/if its pushed up to 400m
I'd better try it soon

Re: Sprints and Stuff- training/questions 1k and below
how hard is it to improve max power and 1 minute power? never done any training on this type of stuff, i haven't been rowing very long and have been following the pete beginner plan which is long rows mixed with weekly intervals of 500m - 2000m and a few reps of each so never really near max or 1 mi...
