Re: Strength or Aerobic capacity, which goes first as we age

Just my thoughts (such as they are). I think strength probably outlasts stamina although I think it depends on the athlete/sport. I used to compete in shot/discus/hammer and it was not uncommon to see athletes competing at an elite level into their late 30's/early 40's. From my point of view I was s...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Total mileage for November was 452382m for a post lockdown total of 2714483.
It's not as if I'm going anywhere at the moment.

Re: Shock cord issues (wearing out after 7 weeks)

Thanks, that confirms what I thought. I have a replacement green cord so I will get my youngest son to fit it as a Christmas present! c2 somewhat confirmed the issue with the white cords, I was sent a green one for replacement. Both compared I would say that the green cord feels a bit harder and a m...

Re: Shock cord issues (wearing out after 7 weeks)

Hi Marco, this is the same type of wear I had on my ergo with the shock cord and my son had with his. It certainly seems to be an issue with the white shock cord, a faulty batch perhaps?

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

At the moment I'm doing a lot of mileage. It seems to suit my current mood. I'm doing about 18k six days a week so lots of volume. I did 80' yesterday with the following splits: 16' 4126 1.56.3 hr123 32' 4132 1.56.1 hr128 48' 4150 1.55.6 hr135 1:04 4157 1.55.4 hr138 1:20 4176 1.54.9 hr139 I usually ...

Re: Shock cord issues (wearing out after 7 weeks)

Out of interest it seems there is a problem with the replacement shock cord I had fitted. After about 300k of use there are strands of rubber coming from it again. The strands are of even length (about 60-80mm). This is exactly the same problem my son had with his erg as well. Some kind of a problem?

Re: Shock cord issues (wearing out after 7 weeks)

Hi all, my first post on the forum so hi everyone! I own 10 concept 2 model D rowing machines at my gym in the UK and during lockdown gave one to my mum to use in her garage to keep her fit. After a couple of weeks the shock cord went (picture 1) so I ordered and fitted a replacement following the ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

3 x6k with a 3 minute rest between intervals: 1) 22:45.0 1.53.7 hr 128 2) 22:45.7 1.53.7 hr 131 3) 22:41.8 1:53.4 hr 137 That gave me a total time of 1:08:12.5 and a 1.53.6 average. Slightly cooler and less humid certainly helped although the 'grey goop' of an English summer does not lift the heart ...

It didn't feel as humid to me today has it has been in the past ( at least there was no huge pool of sweat underneath me when I finished). Physically it fel...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I finished off June with a steady paced 16k at 1.53.8 pace and a 131bpm hr. It's a lot cooler here and whereas last week I was finding it hard to keep below 2.00/500m splits for 16k the 1.53.8 was fairly easy. I suppose I just don't do heat but the difference is quite marked. I finished with a total...
