Re: dynamic and sliders drag
You can refer to this link for a comparison of the static, dynamic and on-the-water rowing drag factors. Check out the table on the lower right side of the page. I think these tests assume clean (new) machines. http://biorow.org/news/the_latest_newsletter_setting_drag_factor_on_various_ergs_types_to...

Re: Netflix and Rowpro
I do both all the time. Alienware M14x desktop. Just make sure you get the recommended video chip that Rowpro suggests. Mine has both the intel and the nvidia chips. Dell has a new notebook with both that will do well for far less than the Alienware. I have had problems when the video memory is shar...

Re: Training vs. fatigue
I have not learn the magic formula to keep from being fatigued almost everyday I work out. I attempt to listen to my body but I am only on the edge of being successful with this. From four years ago when I could barely get up off the floor after getting down because of near heart failure (4xCABG in ...

Re: RP intervals question
Just use stop and a timer for the rest period. My watch is set up for timed intervals to do this for me. Don't pull that first stroke when coming to the end of any active interval or it will carry you right into the next interval without any time for a rest.

Re: VO2 Max and performance
Technique and your muscles not being familiar with this movement is very significant I think. It is not running for sure. Give yourself some time and watch vids and take some of your own and show them for help. Stroke rate being so high suggests almost no push in the legs. Somewhere between 70-80% o...

Re: Getting started, xfit background
To start out I wound not base my extended workouts on my "best" short time either. What is your average time for that distance? say 1:35 and use that to start out with in the Paul Law chart. Then go the the threads on the Pete plan and work those workouts. This will give you some variety and help de...

Re: Rowing wearing a weighted vest
This sounds wrong in so many ways to me. If on the water, dangerous. If on the erg, it only goes counter to the hold ideal of minimizing inertia load on the stroke, hence the move toward the dynamic machines. It will cause you to get used to over compressing/extending due to the added weight at the ...

I agree that for the first several months a steady diet at 75% would be best to build your aerobic base.

Re: upper back pain
One suggestion is to get a set of bands, put them around your back and do about three sets of 20 or so pushes to balance out the rowing motion of pulling. I had this last year and now use them and this seems to help keep the nerves from being pinched so much. Another thing that I use is an electric...

Re: Dynamic Rower for sale - has anyone tried it?
Concept 2 sent me the new wind shield free of charge and will send one to anyone who has the Dynamic that did not get one. They recently started adding this to the package for the Dynamic. It is a simple piece of plastic that inserts into the top opening of the fan housing. This does impact the drag...
