Re: 500m test (Some advice required)

I'll probably have my damper around 3 or 4 (noob talk) Basically, anywhere between 115-120 DF for this test. Think i might go for it later today as i feel good. Best of luck Anth! It'll be the longest 90 seconds of your life, but it's still short! I'm gonna close my eyes near 300m and then just giv...

Re: 500m test (Some advice required)

500m is 50 strokes, give or take. Pull 20 hard strokes and see what your pace is. Pull 10 hard strokes then count down from 20! That's kindve how I approach the last of 8 x 500m. Maybe do one or two of those sessions and you'll know what pace you can do for 7 intervals. And how much more you have t...

Re: Alternative to full squats?

Oddly, I forgot my favorite new exercise. This one is fantastic for developing leg power and (for me at least) if you don't pull it up from the floor, not hard on your knees. One arm power snatches. If I can do these, you certainly should be able to. Great explosive leg exercise. Not hard to do eit...

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?

If you were in a commercial gym doing the same thing, what else are you gonna stare at that would be really anymore interesting? Usually several TVs, music on, then of course the people watching Even in my office gym at lunchtime I'd see all sorts during my 45-60 minute rows... Many people would co...

Re: Alternative to full squats?

So you can squat to full depth with a mother weight? If so I would consider the goblet squat with a kettlebell for a very full rom squat movement, which is also great for hip, flute, quad and hamstring strength and flexibility - think movement quality not load. You could then add some heavy work wit...

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?

Think its the cross country skiers that wear that crown. Re boredom, if set yourself different goals per season that can help. At least it does for me. And I am a longtime erger. Around 15 plus years under my belt, in two stints. Not ran in years, and don,t have the build, but who knows I will try....

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?

Its all great for about 2 years and then your rower turns into the worlds most expensive clothes line for drying out your underwear. You used to say 6 months... now it's 2 years? umm okay lol. Think Carl is usually referring to the sort of new years resolution crowd with good intentions who use it ...

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?

You may be in the best cardiovascular condition of your life due to the erg, but running will still be brutal. One thing to also bear in mind is if you're coming over from running/cycling to the erg, and DON'T crosstrain at all, you're cardio condition may actually worsen because some people, inclu...

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?

what I like about rowing is it doesnt encourage one to be as light as possible. i think as we age it's important to incorporate more strength work and this doesnt penalise performance on the erg quite so much. when i did bike racing and running i was quick but felt fragile. I totally get that. I'm ...

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?

I started running a couple of years ago after many years of strength training and kettlebell training etc. I thought I was fit until I realised I couldn't even run for more than a minute at a time. A year or so on I was running 10ks several times a week at a decent pace and feeling great and lots a ...

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?

Well for starters you have to be honest, it is really boring. The music and the numbers last for so long but then you need something to keep your brain going during the row so you need something interactive like RowPro. I always scratch my head when i see this erg is boring mentioned by people. I r...

Re: Hi peeps! New to Concept2

You love your sci-fi, Dean. I've watched all of Game of Thrones, Rome, Billions, Westworld. Stuff that I wouldn't have watched without the C2. Small talk at parties is so much easier. Like Luke, anything goes but not good comedy or stuff you really want to pay attention to. I did my first (an...

Re: Knocking sound just after catch

Did you ever resolve this problem? I've got a 2016 Model D with ~2 million meters on it and I've been getting this problem intermittently, but more consistently with high pressure output. Seems that the knocking sound happens immediately as my weight gets shifted onto my feet. Screws around the top...
