Re: Training slump... it finally happened to me... :(

Work on your 1min and 500m PBs. If my PBs are better and I'm significantly lighter than you, you should be able to eclipse them. Now....go train :D A large amount of my training over the last 2 years has focused on base aerobic work and & weights. It makes sense to try these sprint distances with m...

Re: Training slump... it finally happened to me... :(

Agree with this. The erg is such a clinical tool that you really must do other stuff unless you want to drive yourself crazy. The funny thing is I seem to be wired for monotony as I am still not bored, Only done 4.2m metres though so maybe it will come but it's all I do for exercise at present and ...

Re: Training slump... it finally happened to me... :(

If I had to rely on it for my sole method of exercise, I'd go crazy. Doing weights, riding a bike, even just brisk walking will keep you fit and when your erg mojo returns, or some challenge or race is coming up, you'll be back on it and going for another 100K or something! Agree with this. The erg...

Re: Training slump... it finally happened to me... :(

After 2 1/2 years of solid, sustained effort on the erg I've finally hit a big slump that has lasted a couple of months now. Low motivation, lots of excuses, dust collecting on my erg. I've lost focus on what to try and accomplish. In the meantime, I've been doing some weight training about once a ...

Re: Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), also known as electromyostimulation

Has anyone had experience of Indoor Rowing whilst also wearing and EMS belt to further stimulate and work out specific muscle groups. Eg stimulate Abdominals during an indoor rowing training session. I have read the an EMS should be could be used 30mins per day for 5 days a week. This would seem to...

Re: Getting enough sleep for gains

One thought that occurred to me....does anyone know why daytime naps might not last very long unless very, very tired? Generally for me I can goto sleep in this fashion 90% of the time but I am only asleep for 5-10mins, upon which I often feel refreshed. Is this because the body is not now tired or ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Keith, obviously if your body/mind is on a good (PB) day then the first bit should be easy really. If you can't push through in time, I'd say back off. Not much point smashing yourself for something you know you'll fall short of. Only so many times you can "go to the well" as Craig Alexander (multi...

Deb, use a towelling headband and get a fan if you haven't one already. You may look a little 80s but you'll be faster, so hey, who cares? :D

Re: Protein shakes?

I don't think we're doubting the fact that as long as you get sufficient protein it doesn't really matter where you get it from. Offcourse, just wanted to outline some of the basics for the original poster. I have noticed alot of gym/fitness newbies can often put an overemphasis on supplements wher...

re: vfm. I just bought 5Kg of Impact Whey from myprotein for £50 delivered. As I said, compare the cost of how much protein you get from chicken or beef and suddenly the whey become excellent vfm. Not saying one shouldn't always strive for variety in our diet - good for gut microbiome and it's my be...
