Rick:

Wonderful write-up ... saw you 1,000 times yesterday but you were always on the other side of the ropes ... the side that required the orange T-shirt!

Re: Why did the rowers at the EIRC get no RACE result?

I don't understand why the EIRC racers did not get a race result. Maybe it is a to small race? At the german championships no one did get a race result either. My question is what is the ranking worth when even the big races in Europe doesn't get a race result? Not sure what you mean by this. Resul...

David: I just saw these after getting your PM ... the gentleman who was kind enough to take the pictures did a nice job ... the blurred effect while the rower is clear is a nice touch. Wonder if he knew that would happen, or if you set your camera to shoot that way? It was a neat day ... there were,...

Not unless I get access to a time machine. I may go this year, if I can work it into my schedule (it's a 5-hour drive and requires an overnight stay). But good luck regardless! Mike Caviston Whoops ... .... may bad Mike ... seems I continue to write the prior year on everything until at leas...

I can't figure out why anybody would want to watch (the wasteland) on TV while rowing. Wasteland, schmasteland. There's a buttload of crap on TV—just as there are lousy books at the library and trashy tabloids at the newsstand. But offerings like Frontline, P.O.V., Nova, Nature, The Daily Show, the...

I have "shell envy"!

Byron, you are amazing ... I was unaware you built a set of outriggers. Are they very heavy? How do they change the set of the boat (if they do)?

Also, have you ever seen any that are sold commercially for cold weather training with more safety?

I rarely erg without the TV being on a cable news channel. In most workouts, I rarely watch but listen ... since I'm focused on the monitor. I'm able to "block out" the TV when I really need to focus (fast intervals).

I've set 1K and Mile PBs over the past 2 months with the TV on.

I'm at 193,123 and will make it tomorrow, on a "rented" erg at a health club in Amsterdam after EIRC ... staying here to do some sight-seeing.

After reading this thread for the first time after being pointed here by Mike from the UK forum I have two comments: 1) For the first time ever in a venue race I was able to hold a relatively steady pace through +1700 and kick. Prior to this, my race plan was too aggressive. I would always die in th...
