Re: Small Breakthrough

Something interesting I noticed. Even a small increase in rate (say, 22 to 25) keeping the same pace will drop my heart rate. It is really hard to keep the pace from creeping up to something I can't maintain for 30 minutes or more though. I guess I'll just have to keep grinding out the miles until ...

Re: Tenshuu's Trials

PB on hour of power.

Heart rate monitor failed to lock on, so no I was not at 68 the entire row. Removed it at 10min mark. 13,715 previous best on 4/2

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Hour of power PB. Previous score on 4/2/19 13,715m https://dgtzuqphqg23d.cloudfront.net/WmJEkuRJ6wN5s-t6wAqCVy5KPL6-xVVhFf-2mwogLc4-768x512.jpg Heart rate monitor was junk, tore it off 10min in. I started this thinking I would just do 1hr at 2:10 and watch my heart rate, felt good so I tore it off a...

Re: Niacin Bombing?

Best natural stimulator of growth hormone for adolescents is to simply lift weights on a regular basis. Your body will respond to the work done and produce more naturally. For response directly about Niacin, there is a safe upper limit at your age level, defined near the bottom of the following arti...

2k Test today.

Main goal. 7:29
Dream goal. 7:25

Result 7:19

It hurt, a lot.
I paced it really well.
I emptied the tank over the last 500 and the last 300 were strong but very, very hard.
I could not have gone faster today.

VERY chuffed with that.
You savage. Update that Signature bud!

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Went pretty soft this week. This session the softest, capped myself at 160bpm and went with minimal focus on anything in particular, just backing off when I start to drift my pace too fast. Had a massive headache when I started, only minimally reduced by the end. https://dgtzuqphqg23d.cloudfront.net...

Re: Reduce fat by eating same calories but fewer from carbs?

Those scales are very inaccurate, skinfolds much less so, certainly when get a bit lower. How the fat is distributed, don,t know how that works out. I myself have, relative fat legs, upperbody is leaner, I don,t get much belly easily. When I get leaner, the legs go last. No the waist. My arms/shoul...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Finished workout 3 from week 1 of the BPP, had the erg a week now. I think I'm finally starting to get a good feel for what a consistent level of effort should be but I don't think I'm taking full advantage of my legs on the drive. My arms and shoulders feel like they're doing plenty of work, but I...

Felt good, tryin...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

This forum is definitely a treasure. Watching for lifting toes at the end of the drive is good advice, thanks. As far as planning sessions, I'm just going with the Beginner Pete Plan and finished the second workout of week 1 this afternoon: 6 x 500 w/2m rest 13:16 at a 2:12 pace, 24 spm and 158 hr,...

Re: thoughts on progress?

Great progress! You've got rate control down really well. Training is definitely good at 18-24spm. For your 5k and 500m personal bests, don't be afraid to raise the stroke rate to the 30s. I'm a slow SPM kinda guy, I like rowing 18-20spm, and have a hard time keeping a rate above 30 for extended tim...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I'm 5'11/214lb/50 (180cm/97kg), yesterday was my birthday, the erg was my gift to myself. For my build I could stand to drop 25-30 pounds and intend to do so. I'm career military but have spent most of that on ships (especially the last 10 years) so my fitness isn't what it should be and I carried ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I got my erg last week and started week one of the BPP today. I had some left in the tank when this was done but I'm still feeling my way around the machine as I've never rowed before and I'm not sure how to pace myself yet. https://i.imgur.com/El71QXD.png The control is there, nice consistency. Re: 335,000m in 30 days

You're crazy! But you can definitely do it. I did 10k mud madness in 25 days, no more. 273,217m total for March. I'm a couch potato compared to what I've seen from you. In perspective, I got my erg March 14 2016, finished that season with 67,259m. Following season: 87,634 (one of the rows was a half...
