Re: The Complete Guide to Breaks
Curious as to whether or not you will be completely off of training of all forms for two weeks or just the erg for two weeks. I'd be more than happy to comment on the remainder but I would like it to be in the context of what you may be dealing with. Hard to tell. Best guess is week 1 I’ll have acc...
Fans
Second post in rapid succession. Sorry. I'm still trying to figure out optimum fan placement. Putting aside personal comfort/ preference, is there any substantive performance based reason to prefer a front-on vs rear-end fan while erging? For example, by using a front on fan are you giving yourself ...

The Complete Guide to Breaks
Looking to compile people's war stories from enforced breaks from the erg. I'm inspired to do this because I have two weeks away at the end of this month and I'm dreading the impact on my erg fitness. I know there are disparate threads out there with advice/ experience ranging from "no harm done- tw...

Re: Rowing for Base Building - Strategy Advice
IME the best use of HRM has been to keep my effort down on steady/ recovery / light days. I row to a strict sub-135 (or whatever) and essentially ignore pace. This helps force me to keep the effort in zone 2 (or whatever) and enhances recovery for push days. On push days, I’ve started not wearing it...

Re: Rowing for weight loss question
less scientifically, “300 calories for being alive” must surely be nonsense as we don’t burn 300 calories an hour when not on the rower and that would mean that inactive people would burn 7200 calories a day and we would have much less of an obesity problem in society. In any case, I still can’t get...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Away for work this week and the Hilton I’m in has a lovely new concept 2 that was winking at me. Was going to have a go at pb for 5k. But then decided to scratch the 10k itch that been bugging me lately. Glad I did as I took 30 of seconds off it. 37:13. Really happy with that as I put everything in...

Good luck Tim! Great decision. Week 1 will be easy, weeks 2-8 will be bad, then it will only get easier! Message me if you ever want some support.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
This is my next PB attempt as I’ve only done it at r20 and curious to see if I can break 8000m. I'm confident that you can break 8k with your 30r20 PB, but I'm also aware that higher stroke rates might not be good for you, which is where the potential will very probably be coming from. Strong agree...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
New 30 min PB: 8,182 at 1.49.9. This was an improvement of 62 meters. Interestingly, it was the highest HR I have seen (183). THis felt really at my max, but is only 2.9" slits faster than my 60 min PB. Does "Paul's Law" breakdown at longer distances? I'm aware that it's only ever an estimate, but t...
