Re: Weight training and rowing
Hi Big J- I lift regularly. Basically as often as I row. I usually lift for 30-40 mins before my row, 4-5 times a week. Clearly this type of split exercise costs something in terms of rowing performance, but I don't think it's a big deal, to be honest. I think with your build and experience you will...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I’m delighted to report that I finally broke the horrific 8k in 30 min barrier after 3 years of trying! Pretty much smashed through it in fact and beat my prior 30 min PB by 83m. Very pleased! 30 min - 8051m - 1.51.7 - r28 Splits: 1.51.6 r27 1.52.5 r28 1.52.0 r28 1.52.3 r28 1.52.2 r29 1.52.5 r28 1.5...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Nice HM PB- that’s epic. I managed to crush my 10k PB by 24.3” today. New PB is: 38.04.7 at 1.54.2 and r27. To be honest I’ve been working so hard I was a little disappointed not to crack 38’ or even threaten it (I only got within 5 seconds by killing myself in the last 250). Clearly need more cardi...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Been a couple of years since I posted on here but I have been lurking. Kept up with rowing but not pushing hard and took a few months off last year. Last 6 months I have been training hard again (weights and erg). I've dropped a decent amount of weight (20lbs/9kg) but kept or even built muscle. Anyw...

@David- my 30r20 PB is 7,693 and my 30’ PB is 7,968. So under 300m difference.

Re: 61-year old needs training advice
For sure give it a go. And as you have been advised, do the first one really conservatively. TBH when doing pieces "properly", in my experience, they all hurt equally. There's nothing magic about a 2k- as you will see when you do it. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Re: What music do you row to?
Thanks Stu! Still training just trying to build rather than striving for PBs at the moment. I know the 8k in 30' will come this year... Very wise Rob. I'm doing the same (which must mean I'm wise too ) as I think I burnt out on my last attempts at a 2k. Working my way up to a full marathon in ...
