Re: Focusing on the PM and your pace vs not watching and/or letting your mind wander

In general though, most ergers do not go easy, you seldom see people using a conversation pace. I never do This in a nutshell for me!!! When i get on that erg i like to feel i've actually done a workout. I tried rowing at conversation pace and got bored to tears after about 5mins. Not for me thanks...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Found a way to do some training around my elbow injury. MB this morning. 2x100 squats. 20mins core work. 6x35-30-30-30-30-30 pushups. I thought the pushups might affect the elbow but it's not causing any issue on any pushing motions... it's when i do anything in a pulling motion it sets it off. Bloo...

Re: Training and smoking?

Why not just row more meters to counteract the weight gainz  Im already at 15k 6 days a week, aswell as some other training commitments/work/homelife id struggle to find the time to get in the gym...not an excuse but its the reality. Im sure i'll squeeze extra in where i can if the weight cli...

Re: Training and smoking?

Appreciate all replies, its been a bit of a reality check for me. I had hoped the prospect of better PB's would be a motivation...i see that was a little silly now and on reflection there are far more important factors regardless of better times...which i was aware of but perhaps an element of self...

Re: New erg feeling DF

Bungee cord can be different, but even that does not slow you down. Isn't that Slidewinder's cue to jump in? ;) I hope not haha. Gotta be honest tho... my latest sessions on my erg i noticed it was easier to go 2:02-03 pace than usual, + my usual r21-22. Now, is that down to me getting fitter, or m...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

I never tried the pace boat, I always try to row exactly the watts I've planned and finish strong, I think this boat will distract me too much :D @ Anth: Is your elbow getting better? It's still a bit tender at the moment, but at least i can mostly function with the normal daily stuff without it ca...

https://i.postimg.cc/bD2168VD/20190719-073019.jpg Automatic pilot this morning. Not much energy, still not fully over this cold, and breathing was a struggle too. Tried to keep under 145 and failed Apart from that I quite enjoyed it and it was one of those days where the metres seemed to disappear ...

half of all smokers die of smoking related disease and life expectancy is I think reduced by maybe 15 years?
It's so true, lindsay. I lost both my mam and dad through smoking related diseases.

With my limited experience, the 2k hurts like hell and im fighting for breath...but isnt that how everyone feels?
2k tests do hurt a lot!!! And everyone will be fighting for breath in the latter stages if they're doing one properly.

Re: Training and smoking?

I used to smoke, for about 8 years. My mother and father as well, my father very heavy. They never could quit, it was just too difficult for them after many many years of it. I quit in 2006. I eventually started suffering bad anxiety and panic attacks when i smoked a cigarette... so it started maki...

Re: Training and smoking?

Not to make BS excuses but its such an ingrained habit and i have done my utmost best to quit in the past. Patches i quit for 6 months and i tried e cigerettes and stopped for 2years. Yet here i am smoking! I am building up to another effort, hence this post. I used to smoke, for about 8 years. My ...

He is also a banker, also not my favorite kind of people. Eh... 10kg deads? Oh not forgetting the weight of the bar of course :D Everytime I ...
