Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Early start today, out of the door at 5.00am and a drive down to London and back (400 miles). Roads quite clear for a change so was back home by 4.30pm. Joined a 30 min session on Rowpro which went like this: 30 min - 7962 - avg 1.53.0 - 22 06 - 1579 - 1.53.9 - 22 - 136 end HR 12 - 1588 - 1.53.3 - ...

Re: newbie needs help

the pause: i was trying to go at a slow stroke rate, and the only way i can do that now is to take a... pause. otherwise i'm churning away at 24-26. Like i say, you should work on getting the hands away from the body quickly, once you get to the finish position, you can still row low rate. I could ...

Re: newbie needs help

I could make a cup of tea and drink it in the amount of time taken on the pause in your finish  Only joking :D Seriously though, in the finish try thinking hands away quickly and work on that. The whole rowing stroke motion should be a smooth one, and flow naturally. Pausing like that is re...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

1hr30 of intensive weight training late afternoon yesterday. That was tough  No pain no gain tho :D

So today, i just done a 4k recovery row. But i really noticed the fatigue from the weights in my biceps for the first few mins of the row.

4k @ 2:06.4 - r20 - end HR 141 (df120)

https://i.postimg.cc/yD9dnJ3p/20190624-074617.jpg Not a pleasant session and I struggled for the majority of this. I just had lower than usual energy and enthusiasm, but these days are the important ones: when you don't want to, but you find a way through the excuses and self pity. Good that you st...

Re: Row then lift or lift then row?

1. Lifting performance degrades more from rowing than rowing performance degrades from lifting. The fatigue from rowing will make your lifting significantly worse, while the fatigue from lifting will make your rowing marginally worse. You will get more out of each if you lift and then row, compared...

Cheers Anth,
Glutes/hammies junction cramped up about 5 min after the end. Getting into the car wasn't fun!
Cramp in the legs is the worst feeling ever! I used to suffer a lot with it in my hammies... simply because i was not taking enough water onboard to rehydrate

Re: Row then lift or lift then row?

Similar to Stu, i used to row first then lift afterwards!!! This however was before i really got into the weightlifting fully, and seen the erg as a first priority. But now the weights have become slightly more important, because i'm taking my muscle mass development very seriously, and it's quite a...

Re: MHR question

So how would i go about knowing what my HR % is for lactate threshold without knowing what my MHR is :? Trying to guess your LT from HRMax would probably be the least accurate way to do it. You have different options for finding your LT: A lab test, where your lactate levels in your blood and/or yo...

Re: MHR question

For a guy like you, Max hf is just fun. It serves no real purpuse. Watching your breathing can help, when this changes from calm to a bit laboured, you are starting to build a bit of lactate. This is roughly your ut2 upper limit. Breathing laboured, but still under control, you could hold it 10k or...
