Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Rules 6 Use of slides, It states it is undetermined whether slides are an advantage or not and can be used. I believe at a short distance they are a huge advantage and was evident in the May CTC, I assume everyone they used them would agree. Everyone that has the option to use slides also has the o...

Re: BikeErg PB Thread.
Casey, congrats for your new 100k PB and smashing your previous time! I'm also quite impressed with the 200k you did in January, and then breaking your 1000m a few weeks later. What inspired you to do the 200k distance, and did you do it with your usual training? John, cheers. I wanted a new challe...

Re: Adjusting resistance - extending handle
You guys seem to be arguing over the quick calibration verification and the full one. For the quick one you can check calibration on any damper setting. It’ll usually verify calibration immediately. Occasionally it’ll ask you to do the full calibration. For the full one, it’ll ask you to do three lo...

Re: Adjusting resistance - extending handle
Cheating is easy unfortunately. You can have the damper on any setting, let’s say 10, then cover the whole flywheel with a towel to cut off all the air. The physical pedal resistance will become super light but the PM5 can’t recognise this, so the on screen read outs with be much faster than the pow...

Re: Rowing at 300 Watts/stroke
I’ve been erg rowing since the start of the year and want to get my 2K time under 7 mins. I’ve done mixed pieces of short and long rows and some of the workouts that come in the PM5. About 240km year to date. I do a little bit of running (about 24mins/5Km pace) and feel my CV is reasonable. I don’t...

Re: How do YOU adjust intensity?
One of my Goto sets is 50 times xx5, Rest 5 seconds. Intervals. Where xx can represent anything. So a set i would see in my PM5 is - 50 x 745, Rest 5 seconds or 50 X 225, Rest 5 seconds or 50 X 965, Rest 5 seconds. The '50' and the ending '5' are the key. The 50 is 50 efforts and the '5' represents...

Re: BikeErg PB Thread.
What can help with pure sprint speed most do you think? I would guess something like squats and leg work is it ? Yes. That sort of thing. The fastest bike sprinters are mostly strong guys. Tbh, I’m not very physically strong. Typical back squat session for me would be 16/12/10/8 @ 65, 70, 75, 80kg,...

Re: BikeErg PB Thread.
Quite a lot. 5 sessions a week on average. Probably 5-7 hours in total. Also row, do weights, ride outdoors and occasionally do SkiErg.deadlifting265 wrote: ↑February 1st, 2022, 5:11 pmImpressive Casey.
How many km's on average are you doing on the Bike-Erg per week?

Re: BikeErg PB Thread.
Thanks Dutch,
Yes, a bit. Distance work won’t help much with pure sprint speed, but it is beneficial for longer sprints like the 1km. The longer it is the more aerobic component there is, so the more important longer stuff is.

Re: BikeErg . Clacking noise, area; bottom bracket / crank arms
Yep. Very common fault unfortunately. Had it happen on multiple BikeErg’s. Contact C2 and they will suggest a couple of fixes. If these don’t work then you can get a replacement front end on warranty.

I use two bike ergs one at my home which is brand new and one at my gym which is 8 months old the one bike reads 381 watts for 30 min ride and the my new bike was well short of this the damper is exactly the same ! Any ideas why this is happening The 381 watts is totally miscalibrated. Probably som...

Re: BE power meter accuracy is way off
Filippo Ganna's 4k world record is 4:01.934, which is 1582 watts. The 4k record on the BE is Joshua Bugajski at 5:47.5, which is 535 watts. Kevin Metcalfe recently broke the age 55 world hour record on the track at 49.121 kilometers, which is a 4k pace of (3600 / 49.121 x 4) 4:53.1, which is 889 wa...
