Re: I use 2 bike ergs the difference in watts is high

I use two bike ergs one at my home which is brand new and one at my gym which is 8 months old the one bike reads 381 watts for 30 min ride and the my new bike was well short of this the damper is exactly the same ! Any ideas why this is happening The 381 watts is totally miscalibrated. Probably som...

Re: BE power meter accuracy is way off

Filippo Ganna's 4k world record is 4:01.934, which is 1582 watts. The 4k record on the BE is Joshua Bugajski at 5:47.5, which is 535 watts. Kevin Metcalfe recently broke the age 55 world hour record on the track at 49.121 kilometers, which is a 4k pace of (3600 / 49.121 x 4) 4:53.1, which is 889 wa...

Re: C2 v Wattbike Pro

I’m very familiar with both. C2 BikeErg on a damper 10 (Drag 220-230) at about 90rpm is far stiffer than a Wattbike Pro on 10. Well in excess of 700w at ~90rpm. Wattbike Pro would only be ~390-400w at air setting 10 at 90rpm. But if you also use the magnetic resistance on Wattbike Pro and turn that ...

Re: Can someone point me to sprinting or shorter intense programs?

I have never seen any programme with such a short workout time. Whilst anyone is free to row 15 mins straight, either constant speed, or with varying intensities I can’t see that you will improve in either sprints or distance work Baffled by this reply?! 15 minutes is more than enough for most spri...

Re: Clip or strap pedals allowed for online rankings?

There are a set of listed rules.

4. Modifications to the machine that alter its performance are not allowed. Examples of allowed modifications; seating, pedals, handlebars. Please check with Concept2 if you are unsure.

Changing the pedals is okay.

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread

Great idea for a CTC but unfortunately will have dozens of entries where people haven’t read the rules and won’t do the subtraction. I agree. I’ve already seen one entry where a CTC was posted on FaceBook and the meters entered on the CTC website did not include a reduction for rest meters. This wa...

Re: Wattbike to Erg comparison

What bike is more accurate in the real world and comparable to road cycling do you think casey? 8k difference over an hour is quite big. Hard to say. Pedalling is pedalling, I guess. BikeErg pace is just a doubling or row/ski pace for the same power output, whereas Wattbike pace is far faster. Watt...

Re: Wattbike to Erg comparison

Do you mean wattage on the Wattbike versus wattage on the Concept 2 BikeErg? Very closely matched for the same effort up to about 400w. Higher than that and the Wattbike seems a bit easier to produce the higher powers. When you get up to peak power then the difference is massive. Probably at least a...

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread

You know, if you have a PM5, you can program this as a 2' on/1' rest workout and it will just give you the sum meters for the 2' on time and give you separate rest meters (no need to do any complex maths). Then the only trick is that people have to be honest about letting the flywheel stop before s...

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread

Ray, 120 drag for when I did it a few days ago. Rate 24 cap, 1:40.8 average (3571m) and 73m of ‘rest’ to deduct from that, giving a scoreboard entry of 3498m / 1:42.9. 2.1/500m splits of loss after subtraction of rest metres which on paper seems like a lot. Need to get those rest metres down closer ...

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread

The session poses an interesting strategic question. Is it better to stop rowing a few seconds before the end of the work interval and lose some distance but not accrue as many rest metres? I had a play with it yesterday to test it out. Experimented with taking the final stroke of the 2 minute rep ...

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread

Richard from The Chain Pullers has communicated the Challenge for October: Standing start for all 2 Minute intervals – Any meters recorded in the rest time must be subtracted from the total. Hello: Can you confirm that this means that you must let the flywheel come to a stop during the rest interva...

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread

July CTC from Sub 7 IRC:

A long rest for the wicked.

5k/2k or 2k/5k (you choose the order)

7 minutes rest between reps.

One of those reps must be done at 20spm. 30 second time penalty for every 1spm over the 20, ie 21spm = 30 secs, 22spm = 1 minute, etc etc.

Enjoy! 👹
