Re: Cumulative distance on PM2 odometer

As the last post pointed out, the PMs can be reset manually. They also reset when the batteries die. It's definitely not the like the odometer in your car.

Re: PM5 records slower splits

Also, it could be dust build up in the flywheel housing of the ergs at your boathouse. I say it's the boathouse machine since the catch of your home machine feels heavier for a given setting. A better measure would be to use the drag factor utility to compare the machines (home and boat house). It m...

Re: New Model D Rower—PM not turning on

Check to see if it's the "Stuck On Zero" problem.

https://www.concept2.com/service/monito ... stuck-zero

I know the URL says PM3, but it includes instructions for both the PM5 and the PM3.

Re: Model C refurb

On a similar note, I'm fixing up a couple of disused model C's for my club. Both had PM2s that were inoperable due to battery corrosion. I am retrofitting one with a PM3 and another with a PM4. I know that the model C doesn't have a generator like a model D, but I was under the impression that the P...

Re: Chains for Model B vs Model D

Just a follow up for my original post. I finally got around to working on one of my club's ergs that needed a new chain. I replaced the chain on a D1 with a chain for a Model B that had been cut to length (removed ~20 inches from an old style chain, not the nickel plated ones). I used a normal Dremm...

c2jonw wrote:Sure- it's the same chain except for the length so no problem. Cut it with a hack saw or drive a couple pins out to shorten it and you're good to go. C2JonW

Thanks! What I expected, but I figured asking couldn't hurt.

Re: Chains for Model B vs Model D

I know C2 sells them. The "why not," as I said, is that I have four brand new unused model B chains and I was curious if they were usable.

Chains for Model B vs Model D

So I've taken to maintaining my club's ergs (I'm partial to them and everyone else sees them as evil), and I came across four brand new, unused model B chains. Problem is that the club doesn't have any model B's, but plenty of C's and D's that could use a new chain. I know they're only $21.25 for a ...

Re: Model B Restoration / fly wheel painting?

You'll change the mass of the flywheel and that will mean your monitor isn't calibrated correctly. http://eodg.atm.ox.ac.uk/user/dudhia/rowing/physics/ergometer.html From a strictly theoretical perspective yes, but how about from a practical one? Mass (paint) / Mass (flywheel) will equal what? Mayb...

Model B Restoration / fly wheel painting?

So I'm restoring an old model B, and my first step was to completely disassemble, clean, and paint it. In the meantime I ordered nearly every part I could for it from C2. Their Model B maintenance kit, flex foot retrofit, new chain, pickup wire, handle retrofit, fly wheel repair sprocket kit, etc. A...
