Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

Jim, I received the email from Dena a little while ago and gave her the corrected info about Lorraine. So, we may see some movement on the rankings. She is still waiting to hear from Ruth Roebuck but I am thinking she may have a long wait. And, I sent Lorraine a message to do a ranking 60' before th...

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

Jim, Lorraine is one of the hardest working athletes to have attacked the erg community. Her CrossFit training along with the erg workouts are truly amazing. If we can determine the legitimacy of Ruth Roebuck's 10k and 60' marks then we will have a clearer picture of the 30-39 lightweight category. ...

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

To all, Update: Luanne Suplick's 60-minute record was completed as an interval workout. Dena will update the world record once she checks out the next fastest. The next fastest is Ruth Roebuck with a 16015m for an hour. This is highly remarkable as well. I have already questioned Ruth's 10k mark. 10...

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

Henry, Very true about some users. Not all are experts on modern day devices. Entering the correct data may not be on the highest priority list as well. With the number of entries being made on the Concept 2 Website, there is bound to a percentage of errors. No doubt, we do not live in the perfect w...

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

Jim,

Totally agree. I am still amazed by super fast times without other attempts at shorter and longer distances. People who rank their times and/or distances you would think are competitive and would attempt other events as well to see where they stand.

Thanks for your input.

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

Citroen, Do you really want to bring up that topic on this thread? I am just questioning some world records. People submit times and distances on the Concept 2 Website for various reasons. I believe for receiving some sort of recognition. When the records are outside the norm then I believe it shoul...

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

John, Thanks for you opinion. We have different views on Rod. However, I do challenge all records that appear extraordinary compared to the closest competitors. If you see something strange then you investigate. Concept 2 is the governing body for records rowed on their machine. They have there own ...

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

Gentlemen, Thanks again for the comments. Ron Freed times, in my opinion, were not possible for someone of his height and weight. Doing a data analysis of all rowers in the lightweight category could reveal the limitations either because of weight or height. Highly possible he rowed on a faulty mach...

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

Gentlemen thanks for your comments. You would think that someone with that ability and living so close to Boston she would of been to a least one CRASH-B! Ruth Roebuck is another interesting case as well. Another lightweight who appears for two days and sets the second best at 60' behind Luanne and ...

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

John, Someone with that talent who only rows with a club team is very strange. She is the fastest lightweight ever at 60 minutes. You would think someone with that much passion to row at top speed on an erg, and also, on the water would have the desire to compete at the Olympics. She is still young ...

Re: Drag factor racing

df 114 10k and above df 118 5k to 30' df 123 2k df 125 and higher as you drop from 1k down to 100m Everyone uses a different drag factor going by most comfortable feel for that event. I get worn out real fast if I use a df of 130 for anything 2k and over. However, 110 to 115 feels great at longer di...

Re: Technique analysis? (YouTube clip)

Phil,

Definitely, the knees moving past vertical at the catch. You will lose quite a bit of your power at the drive because you are too far forward. However, you are doing well in your first few months.

hjs is an expert on this machine. Always listen to his advice. Tremendous knowledge.

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

Lorraine Walker owns multiple world records for the women lightweight division can't even hold that pace (1:51.1 for 60'). Her record pace is 1:51.6 for 30'. Meghan O'Leary rows a 16154 in the 30-39 age group for heavyweights. She went to Rio. So how can a 126 lb 39-year old outperform these two gia...

Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR

60 30-39 Luanne Suplick F Lwt 36 USA 16193m 2005 Witnessed at public club I've been trying to understand how a 126 lb. rower can row that fast. Male or female seems awfully fast. I've contacted Dena at Concept 2 to look into this performance. This row is even faster than the current 30' lwt women wo...
