I am tempted to have a go at <1:40 before the end of the month.
Mine @1:40.5
Told you...(!) Well done, but as always you're in better shape than me and I did, so...

Re: Coming off the seat - help

Similarly no expert here Allan but the video also troubled me. It did look like far too much input from the back and arms relative to the legs and a bit of overreaching forward at the catch. The path of the handle through the air is not straight. But the OP looks to have a strong upper body so this ...

Re: Sudden increase in splits...

Has someone messed with the drag factor? Sounds like you've been rowing normally and then gotten onto a machine with a DF significantly higher. Did someone clean the machines? Always check the drag factor before you start.

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

That's a great write of the your Paris experience Marjorie, thanks for sharing. By the sounds of it your 2nd on Friday was actually even better than the second on Saturday by getting through two others in the last few seconds. In the 2k you seemed very much in control of your race. (I watched most 2...

Re: Performance Question

We need to talk about Drag Fractor (which is common to all machines) rather than damper setting (which is likely to be different on different machines). So first thing tell us what drag factor you used to "calculate" the 8 is on your machine. If the machine is in good nick and clean my guess would b...

Would love to take this off your hands. Try to keep a paper log for my s&c coach in order to keep him informed of my training.
Sure slimbops. Where in the world are you?

Re: Does a higher damper setting make you go faster?

...and if that sounds in some ways counter intuitive then maybe worth adding the evidence that the very best rowers in the world - over 190 tall, hugely strong, and regularly completing 2k in under 6 mins will have the drag factor set at about 130 (or whatever their favorite number is close to that)...

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread

Are you able to repeat and repost results during a challenge-period if you can improve a result? Scott Yes, as often as you want to do it. And not just improvements I believe, a later entry will ALWAYS overwrite an earlier one, which some have used when they make a mistake/typo first time. Obviousl...

Re: Lets talk about injury

It sounds to me like you should be discussing this with your doctor rather than on a public forum where most of us have little, if any, medical knowledge. Some thoughts for you. The Erg measures work (hence the name) but you can generate that work by a powerful push/heave against more resistance whi...

Paper based training log anyone??

Just clearing out some stuff from the barn and came across an old (unused) training log book from Concept 2. Probably circa 1997/8 when I bought my first erg. Its got a sample page showing how to fill it in but even with over 20 years experience the numbers used make no sense to me - maybe despite m...

Re: Strength training for masters rowers

Because I believe that the erg exercises the legs (and most other muscle groups) perfectly adequately but less so the arms, I use dumbbells rather than barbell and do 2 dumbbell sessions per week (mainly arms therefore, but I do include some front and back leg curls on my bench). On these "weights" ...

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread

Yes Scott we program the PM - New Workout, Intervals, Time, set 1 Min (its the default on PM5) tab down to set rest at 1 min, hit the tick to set it. Once you set off it counts down the first minute of rowing - you can stop when it gets to 0. It then counts down a minute of rest. During this minute ...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Time for me to go quietly me thinks! Had a good day following the WRIC in Paris. Congrats to Marjorie on the silver. Race seemed to go to plan and just a couple of seconds off best which was less than many out there today. Was the "air" bad? Many seemed to be some way off their stated target pace ac...

Re: Heartrate monitor being remembered

Any idea why they work differently? Not really (!) but some obvious things to check - which you probably already have... Are both PM4s on the same (and latest) firmware release? Do you use the same Laptop/RowPro versions at both locations? Are you using the same HR connection method Ant+ or Bluetoo...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Congrats Lindsay - looks like you enjoyed your FIVE(!!!) events and posted some really respectable times. But just to push back a bit - I just posted a 3601 for the CTC, so it looks like your 2k-4 pacing suggestion was a bit conservative, best go again at 2k -7. :D
