Re: Row then lift or lift then row?

Always weight before row for me. I typically only do my Dumbbell session twice a week and want to be able to maximise the weight and reps I can manage so I have to do the Dumbbells first. As I'm then fatigued I always follow with a UT1/2 session typically 8k at the mo where I'm not really too bother...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Nice going on that 2nd 4x5k Susan. Always good to nail a session that got away from you before. That 12x1 was pretty tasty too. Couple of more hopeful sessions from me at last (tho still way down on last years SBs). 11/6 4x2k r2. Wanted to do these at 1:52.5 to get 8k in half an hour. Only managed o...

Re: 21000m challenge wiped out by PM5

The timeout should be 4 mins during an active piece or 2 mins if just looking at the PM. If you need longer either timeout can be reset by pressing a button on the PM - eg cycle round the options on the units button. If connected to Ergdata it seems to stay active...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Sorry to take over the sub7 thread Mike Hey its nice of you to drop by Lindsay, welcome any time. Actually its gotten quite quiet around here recently. Anyway, yes we do have some surprisingly similar numbers. Indeed I used to use 43/173 HRR too, but then I went a long time never seeing a 170 altho...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Yeah, I do much prefer the sprinty stuff Lindsay so really should have been more up for it. I'm beginning to have serious doubts about my "new" (this year) training regime where my base session is an 8k at 20 spm and keeping my HR below my UT1 top limit 144 - try for sub 140. What happens is that my...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Now giving in to cake temptations - that is something I can identify with! But FM training...you're losing me again there. Having said that my norm is at least 30k and some months 40k per week anyway (assuming you include wu and cd which I do). But I'm not trying to do it with a new hip - so don't p...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

I'm still around TwoPuds and will be for the foreseeable. Amazing to see you PB your post op sprinting in the same post as yet another HM. You're welcome to the record for the greatest number of those! Its always good to interact with others, but even if not I find it helps me to catalogue my sessio...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Well done Susan. Completing yet another HM is quite an achievement in itself never mind the time which will no doubt improve further this season. ..and just seen your and Carol's new World Record Rod. Wooohooo! Much as I love 500 intervals...the idea of doing them for nearly 7 hours does not appeal ...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

I've been struggling again recently and not done anything good enough to prompt posting! I seem to be getting worse not better. I have given blood and have had a cold but I'm not sure if the perceived detrimental effect of this is real, psychosomatic, or completely made up. Whatever, I'm fed up of e...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Some great milestones there Susan. Sub 8:30 2k and 13k+ in an hour. Progress is still strong so you must be very pleased post op.

Another fantastic 60mins Rod. A couple more months of improvements like that and you'll have smashed it!

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Fantastic result on the FM Rod great to see a PB and a sub 3 hour FM. Loving those numbers for the Finnish HM Susan although it would have been better still 0.3s faster! Hope the suntan hasn't peeled off! It must have been great to get out OTW so much through the lovely Easter weather Marjorie. Also...

Re: PM5 generates 5 splits for 2k row?

If you program any (new workout) fixed distance or time it will default to five splits...but of course you can change it to anything else that you want.

Re: new-ish rower question about spm

Drive should always be fast - recovery time varies. Some "rule of thumb" ideas I've seen are 1:3 for steady state; 1:2 for distance TTs; 1:1 for sprints. I've also read that ideally the drive should also always be at the same force and that pace is varied simply by the rate....but I doubt many non-e...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

What a strange mixture Susan! Absolutely stonking 30 mins; 5k; and 500 netting all the points you needed in the nonathlon...and a good showing in Manchester before it all went Pete Tong. Hope the recovery is swift enough to compete in the HM - should be, since you seem to specialise in swift recover...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Great set of improvements for the Nonathlon Susan - you must be very nearly there now with the 900 average. Nice going! Very impressive sessions as ever Rod. Lots of distance and all in the low 1:50s. All going in the right direction. Thanks for your good wishes....but Fran is fine, the accident was...
