Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

PB by default today as I got through my first Full Marathon unscathed. The new Citius Remex seat pad really worked well and I was relatively comfortable. I did have to make a loo stop around 24k but no other issues. Jelly babies and banana for energy and plenty of salty juice. I would probably do t...

Re: Tom George first ever Brit to go sub 5:40

It was a great performance but not a British record as it wasn't in a race. To be fair though British rowing are not claiming that it is, it's just a ''British Team Record'' which means it's the fastest 2k anyone training with the UK national squad has ever done. It did benefit from the lack of the ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Yet another incredible row by you! Congratulations. Good luck on the 100 km. (I think that should earn you the whole cake  )David Looks great, I intentionally positive split my FM as I wanted to know I could slow down and still hit my goal (sub 2:00 pace) but I know that it not optimal. If/whe...

Re: Maffetone Heart Rate Training

How much volume roughly below 70% of MHR did you do per week? My contention with this method on the ergo (as opposed to on the bike) is it's hard to do sufficent volume into order to reap the benefits. Hi Paul, I was doing around 60 to 70k a week of the sub 70% plus one or two (at most) faster sess...

Re: Maffetone Heart Rate Training

I first used Maffetone training just over 2 years ago and it worked very well for me as I improved my performances over all distances by quite a lot. Effectively it explains that you will get huge benefits from building a good aerobic base. Lots of long slow rows at 18 to 20 spm...and by slow I mean...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

This is super impressive! Beats my FM that I just did for first time too. Did you flat pace it mostly? Thanks Keith and yes as flat paced as I could, here are the splits; 10k.........1:59.1 20k.........1:59.6 30k.........1:59.4 40k.........1:58.7 42195......1:54.6 Overall pace....1:59.0 It was a hu...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Great stuff, Rod! What a roll you're on. You're an inspiration to us older, LW rowers. Thanks Hobbit, kind of you to say :D The ranking lists for the ''little old men'' are a good source of motivation...climbing them can be good fun, do you use them at all? https://log.concept2.com/rankings/2021/ro...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Wow!! Really well done Rod. That’s a great pace at any age. Any of Eddie’s golden nuggets that you are free to pass on? Another nice session, well done. Only ever done one FM and that was a long long time ago. Never even thought about doing another but then again didn't say I wouldn't. Great effort...

Wow!! Really well done Rod. That’s a great pace at any age. Any of Eddie’s golden nuggets that you are free to pass on? Thanks Tony, I benefit from a lot of long ''slow'' rows at 18 spm and below 70% of MHR. I'd recommend searching on google for ''Stephen Seiler, Polarised training'' as a lot of go...
