Re: VR Rowing (but on TV only)

Just get RowPro or use Zwift or something like that. Currently there is nothing really sophisticated, the indoor rowing market is far too small and the number of users that want to get online is practically zero. The best suggestion I have seen recently is making the "RowBike" option in Zwift a real...

Re: RowPro disconnecting at online rowing screen

No problems just hotspotting your mobile phone on 4G over here. Currently its more reliable than my VDSL connection that was put in 2 weeks ago but its coming right I think. You simply disconnect from anything you have on auto connect and switch wi-fi networks. The RowPro server is not perfect, some...

Re: Stop PM5 monitor from switching off on long session

Just get the right USB cable for your mobile phone charger and plug the PM5 into the mains supply.

Re: Buying an Model B in 2019

You can also ask him what version of PM2 he has. Its printed inside the battery compartment. Nothing printed, its the first version of the PM2 ever made that I call the "CAP-E" version because that is often printed elsewhere on the board. It then moved on to the Rev 1.6, 1.7, 2.0, 2.1 or the 2.3 ver...

Re: Heart Rate Recovery Time

Yeah it would be a cool option. There is a number of things that could be added for the more serious rowers out there. What I would suggest is TWO versions of firmware. All the PM5's leave the factory with the current version but those wanting more will find an "Advanced" version on the Concept 2 we...

Re: Dirt on rollers

No the buildup is a continuous ongoing problem. Its fine wear from the stainless steal capping strip and dust. Its the same as when you polish any metal like aluminium, brass or whatever the result is black on your cloth. Just a damp cloth is the best, no chemicals required. Wipe it down before or af...

I would suspect a missing flywheel balance weight.

Re: Buying an Model B in 2019

You want to see that PM2 working, if its not working then by the time you factor in the cost of a new PM5 monitor on top its no longer worth it. You can put the PM2 in test mode by pressing both the "READY" and "DISPLAY" buttons at the same time. All the display segments need to work and all the but...

GARMIN HRM1G Heart rate Chest Strap Failure

Looks like my HR strap has died. I did notice last battery change a bit of water ingress but the reason has now become apparent. Yes its great you can change the battery, but in reality your strap doesn't last any longer when the battery cover holding lugs shear off the main body so its a throw away...

Re: Buying an Model B in 2019

Its a Museum piece, get a Model C or Model D.

There was some BIG changes going from the B to the C like fully adjustable Drag Factor. If you intend to use it on a regular basis then get a later model rower.

Re: Heart Rate Recovery Time

It would be nice if the PM5 could display information on your heart rate recovery after a workout. Already been suggested, at the end of the row the PM5 could start a timer and also it has the ability to graph your HR decay. You could set your recovered HR like at say 120bpm and the timer would sto...

Re: 335,000m in 30 days

As far as I remember from another thread, he has removed his air intake grid completely. So his C2 "goes to eleven". Tried that before, doesn't help. Removed just the grille and also removed everything. Removing everything stuffs the nature of the airflow and so there is no longer any clearly defin...

Re: 335,000m in 30 days

Good luck getting a DF of 300, never seen it on any of my rowers even when spotlessly clean. Usually about 240 is maximum. Currently mine is at 211 on 10. Try radically dropping your rating for strength work, you don't need to increase the drag. Sounds like you have a problem with your monitor or th...

Re: RowPro disconnecting at online rowing screen

Update your copy of RowPro, its now up to V5.3.3 The rowing server occasionally plays up and disconnects you, its been a bit of a problem of late. I was also pushed into a much newer PC setup a week or so ago, it was a connectivity nightmare. What firmware version are you running on the PM5 ? you ne...

Re: 335,000m in 30 days

Personally I wouldn't fiddle with the Drag Factor, change your rating instead. There is a dramatic difference in 2:00 pace at 18spm compared with 28spm, I think you will find the result of that on your heartrate more than enough "Mixing it up". My DF is pretty much left at 134 all the time. Still ma...
