SkiErg post-cataract surgery
Anyone have experience with this? My Doc says wait a week for any lifting, and I'm hoping to start on the Erg again soon. Light workouts with low intensity. He had no idea what the SkiErg was, and I'm hoping for some feedback. TIA

Re: Sore wrists
kini62.... Good advice. I had the same issue. I'm skiing 4K daily with no issues. Hilo or Kona side? My kid used to work in Naalehu. Visited and stayed over at Captain Cook and Hilo. Ever been to Tina's in Hilo? Aloha!

Re: Sore wrists
It's a gym machine. Can't modify. So far, so good with neoprene wrap and less on the grip.

Re: Preventing muscle loss
I've been actively skiing on the SkiErg for a year and have gained muscle mass. Pecs, triceps, and lost an inch on my abs. Down to 35 waist. I'm 76 and love the thing. I rowed for over 20 years, but like the skierg better and incorporate it with upper body strength training.

Re: Sore wrists
Thanks all....I did a 3K yesterday and just today concentrating on not gripping so hard. It helped a lot, and also have a neoprene wrist brace for added support. I really love the SkiErg after using the Rower for over 20 years.

Re: Sore wrists
Well, 3K is about all the volume I can handle. I'm a 76 year old disabled vet. After that 3K I also do about an hour of upper body exercises. Free weights and circuits on machines, walk around with 30 pound medicine ball at chest height, and farmer's carrys walking around the gym with a 40 dumbbell....

Sore wrists
I've been diligently SkiErging for almost a year now. I do 3K daily, and recently my wrists (mainly my dominant right) have become painful at night. Thinking of taping or Ace wrap or something. Not that big a deal, just curious.

Re: For those who use the skierg regularly, what results have you seen?
I like the SkiERg much better. Have a hernia and can't use the rower anymore. I have gained a lot of upper body strength and cardio has really improved. I do 5k every day. Intervals, sprints, etc. Also do upper body weight training. I'm 75 and in better shape that most 50 year olds at my gym.

Re: Skierg pb thread
Music really helps me. I've been listening to a lot of Machine Gun Kelly and Angus and Julia Stone (Aussie brother and sister). Get some really good quality Bluetooth head phones and it really puts you in a zone.

Re: Weight equivalent on pull down
Well, I modified my daily routines due to some good guidance here. I am now doing a 5K on alternate days, with 2X100m 25 lb medicine ball chest carries post. No weight training. On the other days I'm doing only a 3K with my normal weight workout. I think it will be more efficient. I also failed to m...

Re: Weight equivalent on pull down
Thank you all for the positive feedback. Heading to the gym, and plan on breaking up my routines a bit. I can't row anymore after over 20 years due to an inguinal hernia. I was lucky to have had the Skierg which I hated at first. I'm #1 in the US (70-79) now for the 1:00 sprint @249m. hjs..please do...

Re: Weight equivalent on pull down
That's a great question, and I was actually "fishing" to some degree for a correction or suggestion. The thing is, I feel great doing this routine daily, and have not missed more than a couple of days since March. No muscle pains or aches, sleep well, eat well, and have absolutely no ill effects. I ...
