Bump.. This problem is bothering me, since it's now winter break and the only erg avaliable to me for the next 2 weeks is the one we own.
Any more ideas?

Unless I'm mistaken, usually the erg creeping forward indicates you're rushing the slide up to the catch(the point where you're fully compressed and about to drive with the legs) or lungeing forwards at the catch(throwing your body into the catch). The momentum gained from those two problems can mov...

I've been erging with a DF of around 110 for a while, but i've been experimenting with higher DF recently(which I was going to ask if 110 is far too low for a junior HWT, but that's for a different thread probably). But yes, I always make sure the DF is the same and I don't just set it to a damper s...

Well, for example on the home erg... Just recently today I was doing steady state at a 22 with pressure I typically do at our boathouse(what i've been calling facility) and the splits were showing up around 2:02, 2:03 onwards. On the ergs at the boathouse, I'd be getting splits around 1:55 or so. An...

Splits appearing higher then they should be.
My parents recently bought a Model D, and I'd use it alot more often, but the splits are appearing much higher then they do on the ergs at my team's facility. At the facility all we own are Model D's. Some of them were bought this past summer and some are about a year old. The erg my parents bought ...

I swear, this is the last time I bump this thread up with bragging. This is the final proof that my original post was just silly. My end of season 6k goal was a 1:46.5 split, and I was aiming to just get close to it at the beginning of the season Today, I did my final(maybe not!) 6k of the season an...

I don't know exact measurements, but we've set up one long mirror on the wall next to where have our erg set up at home. It's big enough in height so you can see your whole body while you erg. I feel like the mirrors have helped me improve my technique, or at least shown me what i've been doing wron...

6k Slump...
For a little back story... Prior to my incident today, I was(or would like to consider myself) very fit. Come the end of spring, we stopped erging and only did water practices for nationals training. I noticed from then on, my erg times dropped. I picked it up a little bit, but I never quite got bac...

Chondromalacia and staying in shape
Hey, all. Recently my chondromalacia(knee pain) has started acting up again and I'm unable to run, do lunges, etc. On a good day I may be able to use the erg, and even an elliptical trainer causes me pain. Do you guys have any reccomendations for not getting too out of shape if i'm unable to go to p...

Best(as of today): 6:49.9. I dont think I pushed myself my hardest on that one though. What'd be ideal for me and help me get into varsity again is if I went sub 6:40 by the beginning of spring/our first 2k(the second week of febuary). Anyone think this achieveable for a 6'2.5", 175 lb 16 year old w...

When I was doing 2 x 20 minutes on the erg with some of the other guys on my team, somebody changed the music to smooth jazz and classical music as a joke. We were all occupied by the ergs so we couldn't change it, but the best part is that it actually helped. I don't know why or how, but it did. I ...
