Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Sub 7....did it!!! :D Did it was loads of room to spare and a crazy fast first 500! Beat the demons in the middle and finished well within time. Great work. Thanks....nearly suicidal pacing but just reigned it back in time to hold the middle 1000 before surging for home   Given that, I t...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Decided to have a go at a 2k TT instead of 3x4 mins/3' Managed a 6.55.9 which is a new PB. Went off steadily as mentally I need to get to 1k feeling that I haven't gone out too fast. Picked up the pace in the second half and finished strongly. Am pretty pleased with this and am encouraged that I ca...

Nice one, you sure had good height, I was about the shortest guy with my 1.86 :D
I did play at the small forward position so always felt kind of medium-sized! But glad it's an advantage in rowing.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

I'm enjoying this Martin/Henry exchange, very useful and informative. I also used to be a basketball player, quite seriously but that ended at 29. Was quite fast but better at say 400m than 100m. But I did bring my 5k down by a few seconds yesterday in a 'feeling kind of rough but try anyway' PB att...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

3 x 2000 to begin with today, with short rests in between. First in 7:59.3 to warm up, then 8:16.6 to get a bit more warmed up, then started third testing PB pace and slowed down in the middle as was way off pace but kept going on this one for 6.59.7. Then did a SS 5k to get the metres in for the we...

Re: First 5km time- 18:19

Hello everyone, First time posting here. I discovered the forum after I got home from completing my first 5km time trial in search of some tips. I recently started CrossFit 6 months ago at the age of 40 and have discovered that I am one of the few people that actually enjoys the rowing component of...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

My lungs hurt just reading those numbers! .....my next challenge is to break 7mins but it feels miles away right now. Good luck with your attempt as it looks like you're on target. Thanks - and it's all relative as you know. I found getting sub-7 took a lot of pain but upping the metres is ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Thanks Phil, I've also been doing a few 1,500m efforts at planned PB pace (1:43.0, 1:43.0, 1.42.5) to see how I feel so that I can max out with hopefully 1:40.0 final 500 but will think about adding in some 1,500s as that's a good idea.

And I haven't forgotten the 5k either!

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

After many months of plodding along I'm trying to build up to a 2k PB attempt so have been doing some faster stuff, including 4x500 /90s rest today - below. I have been experimenting with higher rates and find above 34 it's definitely easier for me to hold faster pace but probably need to work on my...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

2K 7:56.3 First time have managed sub 8 minutes, might not seem that impressive to the big boys on here but am absolutely over the moon. Very new to indoor rowing having only started 6 months ago but following the BPP really loving the sweat n pain. Looking to complete a HM before Xmas. Great work ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

30min PB - 8059m (+36m) This was the hardest TT I ever had. Well done Martin. We should just start a "Martin's PBs" thread on the forum! It would be very active. I reckon the 'almost quit but didn't' type of PBs are worth a lot. I'm sure you'll be back on the saddle rowing your way past 8,100 soon.

Was going to do 12k but decided to do 5k TT instead. PB of 18:18. Really pleased.
Great work Phil! (and annoyingly a second faster than my 5k PB :x )

Time for another 2k test?
