Re: Tennis elbow and resuming activity
I would like to hear from those forum members who in the past were vigorous defenders of the C2 handle, who regularly advised others on 'proper technique' when using it, and who over time suffered such debilitating injuries that they required arm surgery. I know they are out there. One of them, a fe...

Re: Tennis elbow and resuming activity
That is why users who suffer from wrist and elbow pain report relief from that pain if they use commercially available lifting straps. The lifting straps hook onto the C2 handle, freeing the user's grip, and the result is proper alignment of the joints under load. I had forgotten about lifting stra...

Re: Tennis elbow and resuming activity
Yeah, there are a bazillion biomechanical improvements one can make. That isn't the question. Yes, it is the question. The OP does not need a 'bazillion' bio-mechanical improvements to the equipment. He only needs one. He, and all the other injured users need a handle that ensures alignment of the ...

Re: Tennis elbow and resuming activity
For the record, I haven't suffered due to any "indoctrination" at all... Of course, all users who profess undying love for the rigid, single-piece C2 stock handle will protest that they have not been indoctrinated. They will declare that they have concluded that the standard C2 handle is the best d...

Re: Tennis elbow and resuming activity
If there were "so many benefits" all rowing style erg manufacturers would supply alternative handles, and gyms would have things to swap in options for users "on the rack" as it were. But the fact that the above doesn't happen means there is no desire from the wider user community to change things....

Re: Tennis elbow and resuming activity
Bla Bl The machine is not intended to replicate a rowing stroke, comparing it to an actual rowing stroke on water does not make sense. Your statement does not make sense. It is called a rowing ergometer. It is used by many, many OTW rowers as a training tool. I'm sure it would make sense to them if...

Re: Tennis elbow and resuming activity
Bla Bla. No oar adapts to the movement of the user, never ever anyone complained about that. It's even worse as there is no balanced load of the back and shoulders during the stroke. A machine is like it is, use it properly or leave it, but don't blame the machine for what it is... Fortuitously, th...

Re: Tennis elbow and resuming activity
I do tend to only use fingers as I thought this was preferred? Using just your fingers is, at least imo, a good idea... As for handle, I do think that there's got to be some merits to a split grip... The usual advice to hold the handle in the outer curl of the fingers is an attempt, through techniq...

Re: Tennis elbow and resuming activity
Don't be a fool. Throw the C2 stock handle in the garbage before it is too late. Build and install a split handle to ensure that your hands, wrists, and forearms remain aligned with the direction of applied force throughout the stroke.

Re: Tennis elbow and resuming activity
My advice is to read the thread 'Split Handles' by nates (Nov. 5, 2024) in the Indoor Rower section. You could also search the forum archives for other reports of user wrist and elbow injury. Some have been debilitating, requiring surgery. Probably there are many more injuries than reported here. I ...

Re: Split Handles
Watched the video with interest. Would you be willing to share the how-to of the handle that you developed so other can try to make them by themselves? I recently acquired a Dynamic and I think your setup would suit that machine well. Not sure about the Dynamic. The described handle was designed sp...

Re: Elbow pain
The OP did not mention rowing as a source of his problems, nor any other specific cause. I'd like to see a video of non-C2 handles in action; if they automatically avoid risks to the wrists, so much the better. The OP did not mention rowing as a cause, but he/she posted on this rowing website, so i...

Re: Elbow pain
C2 RowErg stuck forever with that rigid stick of a handle, with that junk seat, with those ridiculous foot straps... Yeah, positive.... And you forgot your shock cord. If you want a better experience or better ergonomics that is closer to OTW rowing, buy a BioRower ... Yes, the shock cord. It is am...

Re: Elbow pain
JaapvanE and Jamesg have responded in the approved fashion. And Slidewinder has responded in exactly the way we expect with exactly the negative arguments he always spouts. You are mistaken. My outlook and my comments are the most positive you will find on this forum. Unlike others here, I do not w...

Re: Elbow pain
And Slidewinder has responded in exactly the way we expect with exactly the negative arguments he always spouts. Essentially blaming the machine for a users fault. The problem I have with blaming the machine is that it doesn't address the root cause, and thus will lead to issues further down the ro...
