Re: Increasing stroke rate / aerobic capacity

I’ve added in a very small amount of jogging ~1mile after each rowing session over the last month or so. I’m not sure, but I think it’s helping me to rate up a bit. I’m currently doing a RowPro 2K Plan. In RowPro the base work between intervals (UT2 I believe) is at higher rating than I think most h...

RowPro HR Zones v. UT1, UT2, AT, etc

Hello, In the RowPro training programs they have training zones named easy, slow pressure, tempo load, power shift, Max SS, starts. How do/should the target heart rate zones compare to UT1, UT2, AT, TR, AN? For example, during the active rest between intervals should the HR zone be about UT2? Thanks...

Re: When is it time to take a day off?

I agree that sleep is huge. Sometimes I’m just amazed at the recovery that can occur overnight. I’m 56, do people find they need rest more often when older? Many of you guys have >50 yrs old times that are awesome and faster than what I did in my 30’s. Gives me hope for improvement! :-)

When is it time to take a day off?

Hi, I’m curious when others feel it’s time to take a rest day. I know I’ve read that 1 day per week is sort of mandatory. But somehow I’ve now done about 3 weeks without a rest day and I’m pretty sure I could use a rest day. It got me thinking; how do others decide its time for a rest day? General f...

Re: Increasing stroke rate / aerobic capacity

For the last 18 months I’ve been using RowPro training programs. I’m currently doing the 2K program because the easy days use a slightly higher rating of 24-28. Over the last 18 months I’ve done 5K/6K program a few times, 30 minute program couple times, and the 10K program at least once. Each progra...

Re: Increasing stroke rate / aerobic capacity

Ray, having a strong stroke is ofcourse a goal to strive for, but we have to be able to use that stroke. In the end its seldom strenght that is the limiting factor. Aerobic fitness is. You do train both parts of the stroke, and do lower rate sessions and sessions where you try to rate up. I’m 56 an...

Re: Rowpro

I’m a big fan. Been using it for about 1 1/2 years now. What they advertise is completely true. Your commitment instantly rises when you do training plans. You wake up saying what am I assigned to do today rather than will I row/what am I going to do? The variety of cycled workouts I think really pr...

New Rollers: Best Investment Ever!

I’ve got about 4 years/6million meters on my rower. Was getting progressively frustrated with bumpy loud clicking ride and seat sticking during active rest. Even cleaning the rail meticulously wasn’t helping. Splurged $11 for new rollers; BEST INVESTMENT EVER! Between erring on the side of replacing...

Re: Any Concept 2 owners use RowPro?

I use RowPro for the training plans. I have found that what RowPro advertises is completely true: specifically that your mindset changes from “what am I going to do today?” to “what am I scheduled to do today?”. If I row on my own, I push hard (probably too hard) and then likely burn out or take too...

Re: More beginner questions

Bill, You really piss me off. I’m 4 years younger than you, 6’1””, same weight. I’ve used the erg on and off for something over 25 years. A good solid row at age 40ish for me was probably 10K/40mins. When I did a lot of running and tennis when I was younger, I did much better on rower. For last two ...

Re: RowProw rower quits then program stops

Well, it happened again :-( I had several rows on RowPro after upgrading RowPro and the firmware, then same exact thing happened today on a RowPro slow pressure intervals training row.

Re: RowProw rower quits then program stops

Ya, got the firmware and hardware #s crisscrossed. Did the upgrade to V27 and have RowPro 5.3 and first row since upgrade went without flaw. Had two training intervals, one active rest in between, then active rest at end.

Re: RowProw rower quits then program stops

I’m updating to version 27 right now. I see that V.27 includes a”fix to unexpected workout termination caused by pause in rowing”. Until now I had thought that perhaps my program was hanging up between the active training and active rest portions of the workouts. Hoping this .27 upgrade fixes the is...

Re: RowProw rower quits then program stops

I’m not using a USB stick. I have USB-USB connection between laptop and PM5. I have a MacBook Air laptop with the most current operating system. I upgraded to 5.3 from 5.2 because I was hoping one of those bug fixes might handle this issue.
