Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Great stuff Rod with all the BR's you're setting at the moment, a great run of form that's coming from a lot of hard work mate. Hope the rehab is going ok TPK. Sub 7 ITC for me today, warmed up with a sub 7 2k. Thought I'd try and hold 400w for each and I did. More please with winning the mental bat...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Thought I'd drop in to say "Hi" as I might be getting some grumblings of some motivation coming back  Haven't really stopped erging all summer, fortunately the habit as been keeping me going but no structure, just slipped and slid along for 20 minutes or so most days coupled with the odd round ...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

....... 4min from the Autumn and they have kindly recognised it as a new BR. I was tempted to keep schtum about it since otherwise I'll just bring it to the attention of the real fast people as an easy target for them, but that rather misses the point. For at least a few minutes I was a genuine Bri...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Managed to get all this months online 'race's ' done. Nearly missed the lot of them so needed to be a bit 'creative' to fit them in with 'normal' Marathon training  Sub 7 ITC 30R20, did this as the 1st interval of a 2x30' R3 with capped HR at 123. Then next day did the CTC as a warm up for a 2k...

Re: A Small Bit of CRASH-Bs 2018

.......... BIRC used to be big also, some 2,500 or so participants, and that too has fallen off quite a bit. It might even have disappeared for a while (the Brits can probably jump in here and straighten me out on that) and made a comeback as a smaller event. Hi Rick, you're not wrong. BIRC (Britis...

Re: wolverine plan, anyone?

I have in the past but now similar to Jamesg, level 4's and nearer a 2k race level 1 stuff but not religious about it. Good plan though and plenty written about it

Many congratulations Nav, cracking finish. Did'nt see the race as I got my timings wrong  Just managed to catch the end of Andy Benko's efforts though

Might see you next year as I turn 60 in March

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Thought I'd pop in to wish all who are at the World Champs the best of luck. Hope you all get what you've trained for. Haven't been posting for a few weeks, that's that New year resolution blown   . Still erging but lacking 'real' motivation to push on, although racking up plenty of metre...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Rest day to-day. Trying to get back on plan (whatever that is  ). Monday’s fayre was 2x30’r3 alternating 7.5’ at 280w and 7.5’ at 250w, HR cap was 148. No issues and hovered around the HR cap on the last knockings. Yesterday was the longest I’ve rowed in one training session, ever  . 4x2...

Re: Do you under or "over" perform at competitions?

Definite under perform for me. Never rowed a 2k race that I've been happy with the time, come to that I think I've only got 5-6 time trials I've been happy with, ever  2 off 5k races at Farnbourgh, 4' pb, 6344m for the concept challenge, 10k BR and a HM BR (2nd one). I think I've gone through ...

Re: For You Old Timers

Funny, I only got part way through the first entry on this thread and 'knew' who it was about

Yeah seems to be a bit of renaissance on here (myself included), if they could host a blog section it could get like the 'old' days :D

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Took a rest day Friday (normal rest day is Saturday), no reason other than the day just ran out for me  . Saturday warmed up with a competition warm up then got the CTC out of the way. Did’nt really fancy sprinting myself to death so did it at 20 spm, pretty sure I got some sort of training ef...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Hi Dean, I think you probably interpreted correctly. I would guess that there’s more benefit getting up to the required HR soonest and holding it there for longer. However, as I’d never done something like this I deliberately ‘aimed off’, mainly to make sure that I finished the session (which was in...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Tried another to-day from the Fletcher indoor Marathon plan. 4x15’r4 with the 1st 6’ of each interval done at 290w and <28 spm and the next 9’ at 240w and <22 spm, HR capped at 152 which I did’nt reach so plan next time to go at 295w for each 6’ segment. Tough session but not too tough and certainly...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Been pretty de-motivated recently, not really sure why other than I know, with the stall I’ve set out, every rows a long one. Been looking at the Fletcher indoor Marathon plan which looks a tadge more interesting to follow than the Concept marathon plan I was using. To that end gave one of the sessi...
