Re: Eddie Fletcher step test 2k predictor

Cheers Glen, sort of what I had figured as my 4' av pace of 1:38.3 would suggest my 2k predicted time would be 6:33.2, which whilst would be nice is a tadge quicker than where I think I am atm by about 3-4 seconds. Although proof in the pudding would be to do a full on 2k sometime soon to see I supp...

Eddie Fletcher step test 2k predictor

Just done the 'TEST ONE' step test from Eddie Fletchers Indoor Rowing Marathon Plan to get my max HR for my next training plan and noticed that 'step 5', "gives a predicted 2k time" (presumably the pace/500m figure). Thought I'd enquire on the forum if anyone has used it and how accurate is it? I've...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

"Glad you're not feeling too bad. Will expect to see you back at it in two or three years when you hit 65.......if not before!" I have to be philosophical about it, it was my own fault really although I will be dropping World rowing a line on it sometime as they should cover restart procedures. It's...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Cheers Mike, yep probably my own fault for being too professional   The last two false starts I’ve been involved with at BRIC have taken an age to get restarted, mainly as all the erg flywheels are needed to stop again. Subsequently the 2nd time it happened I learnt to get off the erg and...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Hi Guys and gals, popped on board to have a look at my post post BRIC20 just to check if the race plan was the same as I remembered. Hopefully produce similar today. Best of luck to Carol. I wondered where you were Rod. Yep I'm considering similar, seriously thinking of having a break from 2k racing...

Re: Training Zones

Sorry forgot to add to my last "‘am I putting enough effort into the session’." I'm probably not the best person to ask this as I loath sprints so training for them is not something I do, but for 2k you don't actually do that many sessions that require 'effort'. I train 6 times a week and only 2 of ...

Re: Training Zones

Lol, FWIW Steve I was lying in bed last night mulling over what I'd said and realised you will probably get a really fast 2k time :D Glad to see I was right  I find the erg power profile a good tool to check how training is going and to estimate a 2k time for me but I'd guess I'm a more 'balanc...

Re: Training Zones

Hi Steve, Just a thought for a sprinter like yourself, estimate what your 2k time could be by extrapolating from the Jensen 2k erg power profile. Do the 10s and 60s tests and work back from there what you could be able to do at 2k. Also FWIW I don't think there are any wasted metres on the erg. Not ...

Re: Weight training and rowing

Don't want to do the UT1 sessions, would much prefer the shorter intense reps but believe that you have to have the aerobic base to complete a 500m. FWIW I don't like the long UT1 sessions either. If it's any help, how I get through them is doing them like a Fletcher warm up without the sprinty bit...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Cheers Mike and TPK, got the result and time I expected, just not in the manner I wanted  Looking at the runners and riders before hand I knew the Italian had posted 6:45 and I felt I could nip under 6:40 so came up with a pace plan for that. That was about the only thing I got right  Fel...

Re: BRIC

Pleased with my PB in the 55-59 group. 6:37.7 to finish 3rd overall behind two Scandinavians. Was trying to hold the split at just under 1:40. Race monitor didn’t seem to be working - showing 6000 metres difference between competitors! Looked close so 300 to go I put my head down and went for it. A...

Hi Guy's n gals, popped in looking for some devine inspiration ahead of BRIC  (usual story during race week  ) Don't feel in too bad shape just can't get my head around where does all the power go as one gets older  Lacking a bit of confidence atm to attack a full on 2k on Saturday b...

Re: Hello all - very tall newbie here

Thanks for that. I shall incorporate that into my session :D I hadn't actually realised until seeing the video that I've only got about 3cm of track left on the machine. Good job I'm not any taller  You can actually get an extra 1" by adjusting the rear seat roller. There are two holes for the...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Latest from me: 1/9 4min TT for the IRL and FMMC. Needed to get this one in quickly before blood letting on the 3rd. Target, as always, 1200m. Delighted to get to 1205m - my best in recent seasons. Oh thanks for that Mike, took me 3 attempts to beat it lol. Had a go on Tuesday, did a partial...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

"I must keep any eye out for virtual competitions though, were do you see them posted ?"

Get on British Rowing mail list is one way and keep your eye on this forum's competition thread is another. The only other virtual competition I know in the pipeline is the World Championships in Feb 2021
