Re: dynamics in the ranking
I've used the C2 Dynamic erg at various locations several times now. From the very first time I got onto one I've found it very easy and pleasant to use. Nothing humbling about it at all. If your technique is ugly on a static erg then you might struggle initially on it, but that's about it. Sure th...

Re: Smart Marathon Training (Running)
APM: What kind of distances were you putting in on the erg or boat whilst training for the marathon? These sessions outlined in the book are a nice mix of higher intensity stuff and the volume is pretty low say maybe 15k per week. I'd easily do that in a single session were I not engaged in this mad...

Re: Smart Marathon Training (Running)
This is a timely topic for me. I am training for a marathon which will be in Sept. I am using the training template outlined in the book Run Less Run Faster . The meat of the program is 3 quality runs per week plus 2 cross training session. The Authors offer templates for cycling, swimming or rowing...

Re: tennis elbow from rowing
Had the same problem last year... pretty bad. I had to stop rowing for months. I tried a whole bunch of stuff. The typical approach of rest, nsaids and that stupid tennis elbow brace they sell at drug stores is worthless. Get yourself a theraband flex bar and start doing the "tyler twist" with it on...

Re: Questions regarding PM4 refit on Model C...
If you order the retrofit pm4 from concept 2 everything you need will be included. The batteries won't charge though. There is no trade in on the PM2 that I know of. It seems like there is a market for them on ebay and every once in a while here someone posts that they want one. I retrofitted my Mod...

Re: report on C2 Dynamic
So I guess the bottom line question is which of the dynamic options is best? By best I mean most closely simulates rowing OTW. I realize that there is complete substitute. I would be particularly interested in comparisons between the C2 Dynamic and the C2 on slides and Also the Dynamic vs. The Oart...

Re: Dynamic vs Stationary
As far as hooking a C2 PM up to the Oartec... it isn't that easy. It would require disassembling the Oartec drilling some holes and mounting the monitor pickup from a model C static. I have no schematic of the Oartec innards and for that reason I fear that should I take it apart I will not be able t...

Re: Dynamic vs Stationary
Unfortunately there are issues with all of the dynamics the way I see it. C2 is a great company and their customer service is second to none but like Johnlvs2run I just wasn't liking what I saw on the video footage and also from folks who had tried it. It kind of seemed like they were forced into a ...

Re: Dynamic vs Stationary
Yeah My experience is only with the Oartec slider as far as dynamics go. I would love to try both the C2 dynamic and the RP indoor sculler but I don't know of any that are nearby.

Re: Dynamic vs Stationary
Responding to slwiser: My basis for mentioning unmeasured losses on my dynamic come from these comments of c2jonw which jibe with my experience on the Oartec compared to the static C2: We have not observed the use of a Concept2 monitor on an Oartech machine and therefore can not verify any aspect of...

Re: Dynamic Rower for sale - has anyone tried it?
How can anything done on the erg really be comprable to what is done on the water? There are too many variables including bladework, current, wind that come into play otw, not to mention boat variables.

Re: Dynamic vs Stationary
I am now completing my third month of Dynamic use. It took me about three months to transition from static to slides. So I am nearing the term that I gave myself to be able to say something solid concerning the difference. I think the Dynamic is much harder to hold a load over a longer period. I st...

Re: Dynamic Rower for sale - has anyone tried it?
This thread is a total disappointment. I came expecting useful information. Instead, I read multiple posts from the trolls (read Rockin Roland et. al) whose vitriole can be explained by self interest or ignorance and a scattered few posts from folks like Jon and Xeno who are actually trying to high...

Re: Dynamic Rower for sale - has anyone tried it?
Ok I did some experimenting. my results support what Xeno and c2jonw have alluded to. A few days ago I did the Rojabo power test and endurance test on my static C2. Based on my results, my numbers predicted a current 2k time of 6:40 and a potential of around 6:22. My recent and current PR is just un...
