Re: How do i train hard enough to achieve 30 million metres a year

ive just read the 32 Million meters and that's over 87,000 a day, every day with out a break, and this season isn't over yet. I would like their job where I could stay on the machine all day. OK you made me go look and a 61 year old is supposedly on pace for nearly 37 Million this year - over 100K ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

1hr of heavy weights last eve! Which left me feeling quite tired and fatigued this morning. But none the less, i fancied cranking out a 30min sesh on the erg this afternoon. Felt pretty decent, and the cooler conditions were nice bonus, just a tad sweaty :D 30:00 - 2:06.1 - r21 - 7136m (df112) RPE ...

When racing or testing hard hf is often more distracting than helpful. For easier, aerobic work it could be usefull
Completely agree with both of these points... I view the ability to see heart rate during a time trial as a distraction.

Re: Emphasize watts v. splits?

The calculation is simple... Take your average watts and divide it by the stroke rate . You can do this for any workout in your logbook (as long as you made a record of the stroke rate at the time you entered it!) Lets take a look some entries from my log book (these are from last season...) Here is...

Re: Emphasize watts v. splits?

I have found the SPI (Stroke Power Index) to be a handy bench-marking tool but it needs to be used with caution as it can be misleading if used as a standalone metric. That is to say, it is more useful if you have a set of similar workout performances to compare with. For example... these figures sh...

Cold start 500m today... I could have PB'd if I had bothered with a warm up...

Re: Rugby test

Bump....

Thinking of trying this... has anyone done this test recently ? (or in the past). Would like a bit more feedback, insight on how it went, what was learned, what to watch out for...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

I might also have to try the 6k as I have never done one. When compared to the 5K, the timing on the 6K distance feels a bit odd... Much like how the 4 min distance feels compared to the 1K Its not perfect, but I've found the pace estimate tool is somewhat useful for determining a good target pace ...
