Re: Training slump... it finally happened to me... :(

Hello gang: Thanks to everyone for all the input and thoughts on this topic. I'm sure we all have been or will go through it at some point. Lots of good takeaways here... but here are some of the key bits of feedback that are resonating with me at the moment... Beyond the sniffles and marginal perfo...

Training slump... it finally happened to me... :(

After 2 1/2 years of solid, sustained effort on the erg I've finally hit a big slump that has lasted a couple of months now. Low motivation, lots of excuses, dust collecting on my erg. I've lost focus on what to try and accomplish. In the meantime, I've been doing some weight training about once a w...

or just to get all the ranked pieces above 75% for age group.
This strategy has been a great motivator for me... I've hovered over 80 in most of the sprints and around 70 for the longer distances...

Re: 335,000m in 30 days

Well, despite a good effort... I didn't make it... managed to crack 215,000m but then lost my motivation. I normally average about 4000m a day for a season but bumping that up 11,000m really took a toll on my sleep patterns and overall energy level. Muscles and joints were fine, but I just felt sapp...

Re: Reflections on this season

Second full season on the erg. Gains have become exponentially harder but I did manage to to set personal bests in the 100m, 1 min (347m), 500m, 1000m, 2K, 5K, 50K and 100K distances 1,507,258m for the season. Now its back to doing weights and cardio for a few months in preparation for setting new P...

I tried 10k again just a while ago (last attempt was like 2 weeks ago) and improved my PB by 9 min (finished at 44:55)
This time is much closer to where I would expect a new rower in good shape to land. Stay with it!

Some low DF /

DF 78
That is low... i can't even get it that low on my erg. The lowest reading i can get with the damper lever right down is DF 84.
The strange thing about this piece was how suprisingly hard it was.

Re: 335,000m in 30 days

Your pretty much an identical height and weight as myself. I started rowing with the DF up in the 160's 10+ years ago, its way too high for distance work at low ratings.110 is way to low unless your really tall and have phenomenal leg speed, I simply cannot get any pace at that DF. Changing the DF/...

Re: 335,000m in 30 days

Thanks for kind words everyone... its going well so far. I'm looking forward to giving this a real shot. Why is the Drag Factor all over the place ? That is weird. It very slowly trends down over time, perhaps loosing 3 or 4 points a year if you using it in a clean environment if you don't touch the...
