Re: Low rate fast pace....how?!

On race day or on trials, one dials back the W/stroke and the SPM slightly. The fitness and strength will be there to do that. Dialing down makes a lot more sense than trying to ramp up to what one is not trained for. ive always been taught/told and have since passed on to my kids and teams that i ...

Re: Weight not really coming off

I do wonder if there is an ideal weight that you naturally gravitate towards as I know other people who train a lot and can't lose weight and people who eat loads and don't seem to put on weight. Ectomorph, endomorph and mesomorphs are established body types and will also play a role in where you w...

Re: Focusing on the PM and your pace vs not watching and/or letting your mind wander

tend to watch the screen at almost OCD level. i have my target pace in mind and stick to it. target pace and s/m is what i watch mostly. not that interested in distance unless im doing a distance piece. most of my sessions are time based not distance based.however if a good looking women is doing so...

Re: Coping strategies

Always funny to laugh at others... But here one the other way around, last year in my gym they held a 500m comp. One of the trainers, a 60m discustrower, who never touches the rower, pulled a 1.17 rate 32. Big guy, but no giant. They did the same thing in my gym around five years ago and similar th...

Re: Coping strategies

another good distraction is when you are at the gym and some young punk gets on the erg next to you and you know hes going to go hard for a short while and try and make you look bad.... trouble is most of the time you are still going at a faster pace than he is and for way longer... good for a laugh...

Re: Bicep tendon update

well in about 3 weeks i will be back at the specialist for a review of my injury. to be honest i still get twinges when i overdo it with heavy items but my arm settles down a lot quicker. Not sure what the outcome will be but i have pretty much made up my mind that after we get back from the states ...

Re: Bicep tendon update

@ Ollie mine is just a partial tear which in some ways is worse than a full tear as it will always be in my mind now to take things easy in case i fully tear it. although it has been in the back of my mind to just go ahead and tear it completely so i dont have to pussyfoot around taking it easy. fro...
