Re: Importance of stretching?
hardly ever stretch but do 5 or 6km on a bike as a warmup and warm down. when i was doing my cross fit program a few years ago i had issues with my knees (still do) and was shown some stretch work to do prior to and during each CF session. to be honest it helped a lot. really increased my flexibilit...

Re: back to work on the erg
yes i would highly recommend a visit to NZ. :D :D but i may be a bit biased LOL AirNZ was refunding or allowing people to use the flights booked as store credit so you could effectively just change dates and use that money for flights. but only if you had paid before a certain date (i think it was ...

Re: back to work on the erg

back to work on the erg
so after a lock down of pretty much 8 weeks my gym is now back open with restricted hours and have to book in for time slots. during lock down i had a issue with my right knee which turns out could be Osteo arthritis. am finding that my knee now no longer bends with the full range. which is not to m...

Re: Improving But Needing a Form Check!
with regards to a straight back i find that if i concentrate and squeeze my shoulder blades together at the finish i stay in a upright position. it does take a bit of getting used to and you will find that you will get some muscle soreness after a while

Re: How to Meet Requirements to Walk-On at D1 School
have to agree with Jack on this one. "whenever i feel like it" is not going to cut it as a competitive rower. get a plan and put in the hours. work with the guy who invited you and make a plan then at worst stick to it and better yet exceed it. weight loss will come with a good diet and work on erg....

Re: The Virus thread - Is COVID-19 affecting your training program?

Re: Footstraps slipping
same thing happens on the gym rowers that i use. but thats an age of strap and buckle thing. if i look at them they slip. have asked for some maintenance to be done including replacing the straps. but they say they do regular maintenance and the straps are ok (apparently) :D not a real issue apart f...

Re: Foot fatigue / inflammation
possibly tendonitis. i had a similar isssue when i kayaked in the winter with bare feet with the constant adjusting of the rudder in the winter cold (not that cold was about 5 or 6 deg C. just one of those clear crisp mornings). the day after i could barely walk and it took weeks to subside. and i t...

Re: weight loss
