Re: Pete Plan Thread

After a few weeks off to compete in my first rowing race then do a HM TT, I'm back on the BPP for the SkiErg. Since it had been a few weeks, I re-did the 5500m.

Re: Clueless

https://thepeteplan.wordpress.com/beginner-training/ I lost 20k in a year by doing the following 1) All 5 days of BPP each week and was active on the PP thread https://www.c2forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=165414&start=1800 2) Set long term stretch goal (sub7 2k as a lightweight after the age of 50) 3...

Re: Confused about training strategies

I did the BPP last year and suggest the following 1) be active on the Pete Plan thread (great motivation and advice) https://www.c2forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=165414&start=1800 2) As Stu suggests, use a HR monitor and cap the SS sessions. I did NOT do this and paid for it via injury and lack of pr...

I feel like if I slowed down, I would be robbing myself of a decent workout.
This was part of my "racing my training" thinking. A steady state is a good workout and a great time to focus on form (including breathing).

Stu, Alasdair, Lance - congrats! Must feel great knowing you put in a good performance at a competition.

1.1 second improvement for me today... but it took me under the magic number!

Re: My breathing rhythm is horrendous; how can I fix this?

I ran into the same issue. I had been rowing about 6 months and was frustrated. As Henry said... I was racing my steady state pieces. I decided to back off the pace (and not race) on my 10k SS. Racing would've been about 2:00-2:05/500. I was probably at 2:15-2:20. I was trying to be as efficient/smo...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Suffering a cold this week and bailed out of my FM training on Tuesday after 2x20 of a 4x20... today was supposed to be a 2 x 40 @FM pace, but set up a 1hr instead. Still not feeling great but maybe the 3 days off helped as added 73m to my hour giving a new PB of 14367m :) According to the rankings...

Re: Skierg pb thread

New and very slight 10K PB lest night. Dropped from 2:15.2 to a huge amount to 2:15.1 :o A whole drop of .1 of a second. Interestingly I had no idea I was even close. Went out for the first 6K at what was feeling a pretty easy pace, 16-17s mostly. Then with 4K left in order to have the time pass mo...

Re: Skierg pb thread

I got a new 1 minute PB this morning, bettering my time from a week ago by 3 meters and 1.3 seconds. My best prior to this month was 2:07.1, which I'd failed a few times to better, and my times weren't improving. However, this month has been good, as my one minute pace has kept improving, to 2:02.4...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Just got a huge mental boost prior to the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships this weekend... I managed to take 7 seconds off my 5K tonight in preparation for my upcoming events on Sunday (2K, 1K & 4 Min). My old PB of 18:45.7 was set in July 2017 so I've been itching to better this one for a long...
