Re: Coming off the seat - help

Nice video. You were impressive in a good way. You row hard, maybe not very smooth, but hard. You are what the rowing world likes to call, a "hammer." Did you know that prize for winning the CRASH-Bs is a hammer? You are in good company. Good rowing is a complex dance between the footboards, your q...

Re: Coming off the seat - help

I suggest that you increase your body angle at the start so that your elbow are at either side (+/- an inch or two) of your knees. This should keep you from initially pulling the handle up and over your knees. It also has the advantage of slowing you down a little (and observation that hjs also mad...

Re: Coming off the seat - help

I appreciate the video review. I'm new to sprints and never had seen myself on film before. A couple of points 1) I only had 1 hole more to move the footplate up (already had it high) 2) DF - great point... I was still brain dead from the 2k, so I think I had it on 120 (2k DF) 3) It was like riding ...

Re: Coming off the seat - help

Not uncommon during sprints, a slippery licra short is often not helpfull, finding a good short that gives friction is helpfull. Thanks. I will experiment with some different shorts (maybe cotton will work) and continue to use the butt pad on sprints. I will also do the CTC again focusing on drivin...

Coming off the seat - help

https://i.imgur.com/pkC0F1y.mp4 As you can see, I went right over the seat to start. Then, I struggled to keep on the seat once I recovered. Yesterday, I did the CTC 12x1min 1r. I raised the footplate and used my butt pad. It helped a little, but I still found myself feeling like I was going ot come...

Re: Recommend me some over/on ear headphones

Beats Solo 3 are the best I've found for working out. I can run, erg, etc and they don't move. Great sound. https://www.amazon.com/Beats-Solo3-Wireless-Ear-Headphones/dp/B01LWWY3E2/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?hvadid=78065376937621&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvqmt=e&keywords=beats+solo+2+wireless&qid=1569682056&s=gateway&...

Re: Plantar fascitis

I've had it a few times and it's pretty awful. Stretching & massages are very helpful for me. I step on a golf ball and roll it up and down the center of my foot. It's a great excuse to go get a massage as well. I also switched my shoes to extra wide which, I believe, has helped me fend it off more ...

Re: Increasing stroke rate / aerobic capacity

Nice work Ray! I know I congratulated you on the Sub7 group, but now reading this helps me understand your progression better. That is an outstanding milestone! Thanks Mike! I'm still a bit in shock. The last 3 minutes were 3 of the most awful minutes I've experienced. Of course, I seem to say that...

Thanks for all the congrats everyone! That was my goal for the 2019/2020 season after barely going sub40 on 10k earlier this year.

Re: Increasing stroke rate / aerobic capacity

I’ve added in a very small amount of jogging ~1mile after each rowing session over the last month or so. I’m not sure, but I think it’s helping me to rate up a bit. I’m currently doing a RowPro 2K Plan. In RowPro the base work between intervals (UT2 I believe) is at higher rating than I think most ...

Re: 2nd lower back injury in 5 weeks.

That sucks. I hope you feel better soon. There's really nothing new to my post. I've injured my back a few times in the year and a half I've been on. Always been when doing sprints with higher DF. The first time I didn't warm up/stretch properly. After that, it wasn't a lack of warm-up/stretching......

Thanks for sharing. I notice his stroke isn't as long (leaning back) as some of the others. His motion almost looks effortless and not nearly as fast as he's going.

Re: Increasing stroke rate / aerobic capacity

Ray, having a strong stroke is ofcourse a goal to strive for, but we have to be able to use that stroke. In the end its seldom strength that is the limiting factor. Aerobic fitness is. If I'm reading Henry correctly, I'm in agreement. Must be getting soft in my old age. When I jumped into erging on...
